So there have been many things brought up and shot down about the construction in the Vines.Does anyone know when it will begin (possibly summer?)
This came to mind when I not iced they still haven't fixed the projector for one of the south screens in convo this morning. Maybe the jumbo from will be put in over spring break?

Amidst all of the projects underway and about to begin, it doesn't seem to have the priority of others.

They are thinking about scraping the project and building a civic center with the city of lynchburg

What was discussed during convo on Monday? I heard they said a practice facility was going to be built behind the Vines for the basketball teams.

The practice facility is more of too the back right of the Vines. Behind the parking lot of the Vines will be a lake

A lake? I wonder if it will be big enough for crew.

And why do we need a "practice facility"? The Vines looks like a nice practice facility.

Are you serious? Do you know how many events are being held in there? They need a nice practice facility...

The on campus lake would have to be between the Vines Center and the railroad tracks, so I doubt that it's big enough for crew, but that's what Ivy Lake is for, right?

Every major D1 basketball team has a practice facility.

I can think of a program that has won 3 men's national championships and 6 women's in the last 12 years or so that doesn't have a practice facility. But in reality that is a joke that they don't have one and they've been begging for one for a long time.
So that doesn't change the fact that we need one. I just wanted to mention all of the national championships of that anonymous program.

If they were in the South, the fans would have had one built by now.

And they don't have convo 3 times a week with 10,000 students and staff... then add Wednesday night and Sunday services...

If you want to be up there with the big dogs, you need to make yourself more attractive and a practice facility will attract recruits. Not only is is nice to practice in, but it shows that we value our program. That's the logical next step for LU basketball to get us out of being an elite Big South team to an elite east coast team.
On another note, I think they should take the roof off Vines, add another small tier to boost attendance, then put a bigger roof structure on top. I know that's probably not even close to being realistic, but it would be a nice touch.

the plan for the vines is to add an upper level within ten years. that was announced before the williams stadium expansion. the practice facility will be needed once schilling is torn down.
