I think we have a game tomorrow night at 7pm. This is our toughest test in the Vines the remainder of the season. A must win to have a chance to earn the #1 seed.

Any chance this game gets canceled bc of weather? I hope not bc this game has gotten me through class so far this week.

I haven't seen the weather for Lynchburg yet. Richmond is going to get some accumulation over night plus the lower temps will cause what we already have to freeze over. I really hope weather isn't a factor. This is a big game and I hope everyone comes out to support the team.

Wouldn't canceled classes cause more students to come out? That's what normally happens. Plus, it's not like we're drawing huge numbers from the community. Of course this is all dependent on UNCA and the refs getting in town.

FYI -- Look for a John Brown feature in tomorrow's fishwrap, along with a game preview cap and the usual blog stuff pre-game.

Need to win this one. I was just looking at the schedule... those last three games are going to be tough.

5 of our last 7 are on the road. We have to win our last 4 home games.

Thanks for getting this thread rolling. I am working it to be available to watch the game tonight on ESPN3. And yes, this is one where we definitely need to take care of business.

Winthrop in Rock Hill will be tough as always. VMI has been very beatable at home this year, but of course if they have more than one player get hot, they can beat anyone. We beat Presby with Coleman, so I expect we can beat them without him, even though it is in Clinton.
I'm still hoping to do the trip to WU/Presby.

We have a 3 game lead with 9 to play. If we DONT get a home game, that's a huge let down this 2nd half. If we win tonight, we're all but guaranteed a top 4 finish. That would put us at a 4 game lead with 8 to play over 5th place UNCA. We also would own the tie-breaker with UNCA so that's like a 5 game lead with 8 to play. Then all we'd have to do is win our last 3 home games and we're guaranteed a top 4 finish.
But like I said, finishing lower than #2 would be a huge disappointment at this point. I'm still holding out hope for #1 for the obvious reasons - home court throughout tourney AND NIT if we lost in the tourney.

This is how I see it playing out:
we win our last 4 home games (UNCA, GW, RU, HPU)
we split the beach trip (CSU, CCU)
we should beat Presby
we split VMI/WU
That puts us at 15-3

So would it be safe to say that our magic number to clinch at least top 4 would be 7 manson?

I think manson's scenario is realistic. If we finish second to CCU and they win the tourney, do we get an autobid to the NIT? I'm thinking we do.

No. The way it's set up is whoever finishes #1 gets an auto to the NIT if they don't make the NCAA. No guarantee for #2.

If we win tonight, we'll be top 4. Sure, there's ways that we could lose that spot, but it's not gonna happen. Win tonight = top 4.
I don't know what the magic number is, there's too many variables at this point.

I think it would actually only be 5 as all the current 5 win teams can't all win out.

Look at it this way - if we go 5-4 the 2nd half all 3 of those 5-4 teams would have to go 8-1 to catch us. Not gonna happen.
