"this is kind of a blue collar grind it out type of team, we are not going to role out there and out talent people in our league, i think we have good talent and decent depth" - Coach Layer

Coach on the the type of team we have. This is not our most talented team in recent years, but they work hard and are unselfish. Two things we could not say about recent teams. This is a direct reflection of the coach.

" being in second or whatever it is..... we always come out if we're the under dog.... -David Minaya

David on the teams mentality. They understand what it is going to take for us to be successful. Again a direct reflection of our coach.

“I thought they outtoughed us and outworked us,” VMI coach Baucom

More of the same.

"the next thing you need is a basketball practice facility...... I referee it every night, most of them DI guards are a dime a dozen, you gotta get some of them big dudes..... and they gotta be 8 evangelicals.... i got to believe that they out there, cause i know there is alot of guys that do prayin in the games i'm in." - Karl Hess , LU MBB Alumni, and DIV I final four referee. (i just saw this)

Karl Hess seems to think there are plenty of Christian Basket ball players out there for this school. And we need to focus on the tall ones. And our first step to getting the tall Christians here is building a practice facility.

Add any that you may like. Quotes are my favorite part of Lang's articles. Just Kidding Lang. Its all good

Actually, I think the word he used was "big", not "tall".

While I have expressed my views numerous times about the futility of recruiting big for big's sake, he is right that to really play the game at the highest level, you need at least a couple of big guys who can PLAY.

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm?PID=11989 link to video of his HOF induction speech. It is a must see.

I have been thinking about this for years. With football you need many high quality recruits and a move to FBS to get big time exposure. With basketball you need 2-3 players to make a lot of noise in the Big Dance. I would love to see us put some of that $120M toward a practice facility.

I don't think he said that they have to be evangelicals. I'm pretty sure his context was saying, "There's got to be eight evangelicals that want to come to Liberty University."
