HP has lost 6 in a row, but they are 4-1 at home and we played our worst game last year at the Millis Center, losing 81-53. It would be a nice road win for us.

I will be there with some of my family. I wanted to see the team before I went back to campus on Sunday.

If I don't have to work on Thursday, I'm certainly going to try to do a road trip. I'll find out my schedule the first part of the week.

All I can say is the Big South is the cracker jack of gyms.

I have to say though that of all the cracker-jack gyms in the BSC, Millis Center is IMHO the nicest. I don't think the listed capacity is much more than CSU, CCU or UNCA, but it seems much roomier to me. I also happen to like the color purple. 8)

Although it's probably possible for me to get off early Thursday and go, I would have to miss a meeting, so I'm going to opt for Saturday at Radford.

I am actually considering going to this game. Checking to see how much tickets are. This would be my first away game besides VMI.

Is it really a steal if they havent won a game in a month and their best player has gone from Pre-Season POY to not even a first team all Big South?

It is true that both HP and Nic Barbour have fallen short of expectations, but you still generally consider any conference road win a "steal" of sorts.

"Steal of sorts"... I guess I can agree with that, but what if we lose? It should be a big let down... I just dont see how it could be either of those... thats both ends haha

I admit I will be disappointed if we lose to HP, but I wouldn't see it as a huge upset. They are talented, and usually play well at home. I would love to see us get some payback for the beatdown they put on us down there last year.

Nick barbour will be first preseason poy candidate to not even make first team all conference. There are 10 guys having a better year than him right now.

The Lost to Chuck and Radford.... It will be a HUGE disappointment.

Agreed...we've proven we are not last years team we should change the expectations accordingly.

HP losing to Radford is an embarassment to them because RU has the least talent in the BSC, and has been struggling to beat bad D3 teams, but it doesn't have much relevance to our game Thursday. High Point probably has more pure talent on their team than we do. What that means is that while they have not been playing good ball, they are capable of it. Hopefully their loss to RU was not the kind of wakeup call our ladies team got when they lost to NC Central.

Why do we have to make excuses "just in case" and say how much of a "steal" or how great it would be to win?

I am not saying it is just oldflame, but thats what everyone does at Liberty and I'm tired of it. Stop accepting average play. We are capable and we have shown it. We won 5 games and lost to the BEST team in the conference by 3. Problem with the current mindset is, when we lose games we shouldnt no one is held accountable, and when we win games we should already win, we act like its a huge deal. Our team has come to play at a high level so lets act like they are. Let Dale worry about how good they might be now that they lost to a bad team. There is NO reason we should lose to them, this is not a McKay team that hinges on the ability to make shots the whole game to win. I'M READY TO GO! HIGH POINT IS JUST ANOTHER BAD TEAM THAT CAN'T BE TAKEN LIGHTLY... Just like CSU, UNCA, amd GW... No different and I expect no different result. We will still defend at a high level, seal the post, get rebounds, and knock down shots. I think HIGH POINT should be a little more worried about the FLAMES than the FLAMES should be worried about High Point. If High Point wins, its an upset... and when teams get upset... there are consequences. Party's On and I will accept nothing but continued improvement on what we have shown and neither should anyone else.

I am more and more impressed with the wisdom Dale Layer showed when he referred to this fast start in conference as "phony".

We won 5 games in a row. Four of them were extremely competitive, and could have gone the other way on the turn of a missed or made shot or a referrees call. Same with the game we lost Saturday.

Now we're talking like we should consider ourselves the 600 pound gorilla of the conference and be all bent out of shape if we were to lose on the road to a team like High Point, which has tons of talent and was picked to finish ahead of us for very valid reasons. I don't buy it. There is a difference between expectations and entitlement.
