VMI beat these guys today. VMI was swept by the teams we beat in Vines. So on paper, this is a winnable game. Let's home we come out more focused than tonight, and get a win.

I was counting this one as a loss heading into the weekend, but after seeing VMI win I put this into more of the 50/50 category. Would be another great win. That's the great thing about winning, every win makes the next one that much more important.

This is a great opportunity to end our 6 game losing streak in hippie town. UNCA is not at full strength. Williams is still slowed by an injury that kept him out of a game or 2 earlier, and their starting center Cunningham hurt his knee against VMI. 4-0 would sure be sweet!

Anybody making the Sunday road trip?

VMI is really talented. I am not surprised they went down there and won. Wait until you guys see DJ Covington. He jumps as quick as I have ever seen a guy in person since maybe Charles Barkley. The freshman point guard Barlow is little like Lonon was but he shoots it like Kenon. Kenon and Gabriel are still good and Okoye might be 1st team all league. I have a lot of respect for Presbyterian going into Lexington and beating them. There are some talented teams in this conference this year. I thought Asheville was a little over rated going into the season but I still think it will be tough to beat them tomorrow.

3-0 in the conference is really, really BIG!!! Congrats to coach Layer and the team.

Trivia:

*Tomorrow will mark the 3rd straight game Liberty will face a team called the Bull Dogs.
*I am still waiting for the arrival of my little girl
*Thursday's and Saturday's games may be called on TV by Paul Nazigian, former teammate and coaching mate of mine who made his TV debut as an analyst in the William and Mary game.
* Alan York calls a pretty good game. He had me on the edge of my seat during that GW game yesterday.

I could get you plenty of tickets... but you have to work right? Go ahead & start the tiny gym & hippie jokes, it seems to serve the LU fans well when LU loses at the Justice Center, just blame the confines..

Despite the banter it should be a good game, 'Dogs are banged up some & will interesting to see who's able to go tomorrow afternoon..

SCAR- you're right about Covington- he gets up quick.. however, John Williams dunked all over him yesterday on one play that Covington should've stayed away from... the protective mask is clearly affecting JW's play right now.. Both teams played sloppily yesterday- so corrections on both sides if the teams want to win..

I would love to see that posterization! Both of those kids will get you if you get in the way. So it is only fitting that one posterized the other. I'm sure payback is on DJ's mind for the return visit. Getting a banged up GW was still a tough game. I expect a banged up Asheville will be tough to beat in the Justice Center too. I have to remember to tune into Alan York tomorrow afternoon.

No, that was me, and "hippie town" was a reference to the city of Asheville, not to the school. If you've ever been there, you know the shoe fits.

As far as traveling to a game where they have a tiny gym like UNCA, CCU or CSU in the Big South, it's legitimate to want to be sure there is a seat available before you drive several hours for the sole reason of seeing a game. Last year when I did the beach trip to SC, if SuperJon had not given me a heads up that CCU was sold out, I probably would not have gotten into the chicken coop. I made a couple of calls the week before and got on our team's pass list for both CCU and CSU.

So why is it a hippie town? Sorry I just haven't been to that part of North Carolina, I usually just travel around the triad. I've never gone west of Hickory in NC.

I worked this summer about 30-40 minutes out from ashville (near black mountain) and I found myself constantly wishing Lynchburg was more like it. but maybe without that one time i was downtown to visit the drum circle and someone asked me if i knew where i could find some good weed.

its just a fun place, with REAL mountains. (or as real as they get on the east coast anyway)

You were at a drum circle. Of course people were looking for weed. That's why you go to drum circles.

yea i wasnt really surprised by it. me and my friend wanted to steer to conversation towards Christ, and i think the weed seekers knew it so they peaced out of the conversation as soon as they met other young people who then actually proceeded to tell them where they could find quality marijuana.

Having family in Asheville, I have laughed at the drum circle plenty of times; they take it pretty seriously. At least the people there are pleasant and don't exhibit the snootiness that you see in Charlottesville.

tough to be snooty when your dreads smell like a dead possum because you haven't taken a bath in 2 weeks.

Did you work at Camp Rockmont by any chance? I worked there a few summers and loved my time there.

It seems like the 2 schools that our fans talk the most trash about are Asheville (hippies & drugs) and Radford (STDs), with VMI being a distant third ("West Point rejects").

Alright, I'm tuned in, at least until the baby wakes up which shouldn't be until late 2nd half. This would be a terrific win if we can somehow squeak it out.
