Game #1: Virginia Intermont on 11/12

The NAIA Cobras (enrollment 600) will have 3 games under their belt when they drive up I-81 from Bristol to visit the Vines Center on November 12, having played Bethel, Cincy (Bible), and SVU out of nearby Buena Vista. They are also playing Tenn. Temple later in the season, where Carter's dad was a standout BB player in the '80s. The most interesting fact on their roster is a 7'0" Russian who is listed as a
guard. Typo?

Heh, I almost went to Cincy Bible. Interesting. I probably could have played ball there, too... which says something about their program.

I honestly never believed I would see the day that CJ would have a typo/misspelling ... much less in a sentence referencing the Crusaders.

Not to mention the fact that he can probably still get a date with any girl on campus...

Who takes those pics and how do I take his job? Those head shots are not professional...
Also, do the new guys not have to sit out a year? Can JC transfers just jump right in?

A JUCO transfer who has completed his associate degree can play immediatly. If they were to transfer after their Freshman year, it would be the same as if they were coming from an NCAA school, and they would have to sit a year. John Brown will be playing for us this year. All our other newcomers are Freshmen.

Alan York will be doing it. I guess by himself.

I would think he will do radio. I was checking on TV. Sometimes the early pushover games are televised and sometimes they aren't. I'm planning on being in the Vines anyway; just curious.

Yeah he's doing radio. Didn't know if you meant if Scar & Ray would be covering for him since we've got a football game in SC just a few hours later.

This one is not on TV. We are not doing any of the Non-division 1 games this season. However we are doing a couple of nearby road games which is going to be pretty fun for me. I will be in the house on Friday but as a fan. Last year's season opener at George Mason I ended up getting on radio with Nick Pierce but I don't expect to be doing that this Friday. The 1st TV game is not until Dec 2 VS Presby. It will be the 1st of 4 games before Christmas including back to back to back Saturday's with Winthrop, George Mason and William and Mary.

If you are on campus, get down to the Vines Center at 7 o'clock to get your first look at this year's squad. If not, we'll all be following along with Alan York & Live Stats this evening.

The live stats have Carter starting alongside Brown, Jesse, David, and Evan.
We'll see what happens. I am READY for some BASKETBALL tho, that's for sure! Wish I got to watch, but I'll settle for listening to Mr. York tonight.

Their HC is a Radford grad.
They seem to have a decent sized lineup.
Evan
Jesse
Brown
Minaya
Joel
announced as the starting 5.

VI turns it over on the first play.
Then Evan tries to feed the paint and it's stolen.
VI's leading scorer hits one off the turnover, and then Evan answers with a 3.
3-2 LU early on.

John Brown with a rebound, and David Minaya steps on the end line offensively.

4-3 VI.
Evan misses, gets a board, misses again, Brown rebounds, and will go to the line.
