Layer just walked in...my day just got better

Unlike the last few times Layer has come in, breakfast was short. That could mean alot of things or nothing. From my perspective either the food was bad, or the kid is already sold. Layer (and staff) and the Polsons, and several of the other more recent prospects/signees had marathon breakfasts. The shorter the breakfast, the sooner to Liberty to see the sights. From my point of view, a short breakfast usually marks someone who is leaning heavily in our favor. A longer breakfast means either the conversation is good, or there is some hard selling going on.

He was a walkon at New Mexico, and does not show up in their stats at all for last year.

Maybe he redshirted? I don't know for sure. I don't have time to post more than name and a couple links most of the time now, due to internet restrictions at work. But seeing as I am 25% of the source, 25% from a computer screen that says the kid is staying here, and 50% from actually seeing Layer and Nelson talking; it is legit...as have all my posts on potential players been. If anyone has more info on the Nelson please feel free to post.

If he makes the team - then maybe there is a chance I could play next year? If he wants to come and ride the bench as a non-scholarship player, then that is fine with me.

Actually, I brought up the part about him being a walkon and not playing last year more than anything because it could impact his availability to play without sitting out a year if he comes here. The fact that he doesn't have a schollie at NM doesn't mean this isn't legit or that he isn't good. Alford is bringing in some studs there. Remember that just a couple of years ago Seth Curry was asked to walk on and redshirt a year at VT.

Got it, my apologies OldFlame. I have no clue if Nelson is good or not. He passes the eye test. Does anyone know if he would he be a schollie player or a non-schollie?

I suspect Dale Layer might be the only one who could answer that one. I think they would have to be very high on the kid to use that last scholarship for him.
