Gordon’s VaSID Rookie of the Year distinction marks the second-straight year a Liberty freshman has garnered the honor. Last season, Seth Curry was tabbed with the accolade, becoming the first freshman in program history to earn the award.

With his recognition, Gordon is the 14th Liberty men’s basketball player ever to earn VaSID all-state honors, joining a short list that includes his father, Eric Gordon. In 1984, the elder Gordon was named to the first team of VaSID’s college division.

I think Evan is here for the duration, and he is definately a player we can build around. At Chuck South he was up against a first team all BSC in Warren and the FOY in Sexton, and he was clearly the best guard on the court that night.

Speaking of the "other guy" Obviously he's on cloud 9 right now over Duke winning it all, but I wonder if seeing Stephen challenge for rookie of the year is making him question the idea that staying at a smaller school is a harder path to pro success.
