He's got one year of eligibility left. I doubt he goes anything other than DII at this point.

did he already burn his redshirt? He might be able to sit out next year and then play one year for us...

just saw the article online and I know we have connections at South Carolina (we have had a few transfers from there in football and our athletic director used to be there). He wants to play somewhere else. Why not here? A starter at an SEC school could really help our front court...

Two Big South schools that do have connections:
-Coastal: His former teammate Chad Gray currently plays for the Chants.
-High Point: Head coach Scott Cherry was an assistant at USC in Holmes first couple of years.
Now I'm not sure if either of those connections are going to sway him, but it is something to consider.

Trust me, Holmes is a head case. While he would be a dominating player in the Big South, I don't think he'd be worth the trouble for any of the schools. Not sure if he'd have 1 year or 1.5 years to play (don't know when the cutoff for midseason transfers is), but he didn't use a redshirt year at USC.

and Holmes is transferring to CCU

They are getting a really talented player, but it will be interesting to see if they can keep him eligible and out of trouble. He's also trying to get a medical redshirt for his eye "injury" this year to try and have 2 years of eligibility left.

yeah, I was wrong about a school not taking him
I still wouldn't be surprised to find out in a year or two that South Carolina and/or CCU commits NCAA violations trying to keep this guy eligible....just knowing his past and academic background, it wouldn't be that shocking....plus we all know Ellis and CCU are no stranger to violating NCAA rules...

yeah... I wouldn't be surprised if they have already committed a violation with him.
