Definitely looked like a knee. He had a pretty intense looking brace on during the late parts of the second half.
Any news on the extent of the injury? Wasn't sure if anyone had any inside info they could enlighten us all on?

Lang reported that it's Ligament damage, and I'm sure at this point that means "wait for the swelling to go down, then take a look tomorrow".

After that, it would be all speculation. As soon as anyone hears something they're allowed to make public, I'm sure we'll hear it. TB is a great kid, and I wish him the best.

You know Thanksgiving is right around the corner when you hear that Tyler Baker's hurt.

(in all seriousness -- it is a shame, a real shame... I appreciate that he goes out and tries hard and wants to help our team, year-in and year-out. But at what point do you stop and say, 'maybe basketball isn't my thing.')

4Life, that's just wrong: don't make a joke about one of our own when he's actually hurt. Joking's fine, as long as he's healthy, but not when the old guy's in pain & limping with a brace.

I think you just make a joke yourself....you called him "old"

Even Coach Layer jokes about how old TB is, so I think that's okay.

Hello,

From what I saw, it looked like a kneecap to kneecap collision. Hopefully it's nothing more than a bruise and/or one of those "funny bone" nerve blasts that hurt like crazy, but only temporarily.

Hopefully, he'll be OK.

This just made my day. I couldn't agree more that maybe basketball isn't his thing. I mean it's not like we don't have 2 other big white guys that play exactly like TB (but better).

Hope he's alright. It would be a shame if his last game in a Flames jersey would be due to injury. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

If you think Bake isnt in the fight and fights harder in the post than the "other 2 big white guys" you are smoking crack.

More tests today. Right now Its not looking good.

I understand the context the joke was meant in, BUT it was uncalled for, unecessary, and unappreciated. This is an absolutely tragedy for this kid. I am a little stunned that anyone would crack a joke or make light of the situation. He works hard and at the very least is just as talented as the "2 other big white guys". I know what you were trying to say, but I really cannot believe you posted that. Unbelievable.

More tests today. Right now Its not looking good.

As much as I love JVP, there is no indication that he's better than Bake, and honestly, Carter hasn't shown he's better than Bake at anything but blocking shots. Bake is a valuable asset to this team, and I hope like crazy he can fight back.

One of the biggest things about Baker this year, whether you like his skill set or not, was his leadership. In practice and workouts, he was about to talk to the younger guys about what to do, etc. He hasn't played much, but he's been around enough to know that type of stuff. With him out, it's one less leader on a team without very many.

As a guy who lives several hours away and just started following Liberty basketball over the last few years, I’m sure I don’t have much room to make any points in here. Like I said, I live several hours away so when I venture over to watch the boys play I make the most of it by watching practices, shoot arounds, and, of course, the games. I know we haven’t seen much of Baker in full health, but from all I’ve seen SuperJon is correct – dude’s a leader. And he had a real desire to help the team this year. It sucks bad that this happened to him. This is no knock on either of the other bigs, I love Carter (he’s worth getting excited about as he develops) and Pat (his heart and hustle, when the game catches his raw skills, he’s gonna be fun to watch battle), but Baker had potential to be huge for LU in his senior year. From the games I’ve watched he’s battled bigger guys in the post and sealed like the coaches have asked; imagine if they got to a point where the lineup had Carter at the 5 and Tyler at the 4, and there was a fluid offense in which he had a few opportunities to shoot the three ball.
I know my being a fan of Baker’s makes me biased in all this, but it’s been frustrating to read people downplay (directly or indirectly) Tyler’s role and potential on this team, as well as even hinting at a joke about his injury. I was excited for his senior year, and now, no matter how it goes, I know that Tyler’s still gonna be a leader – a guy who will be there for his teammates, challenge them, encourage them, mentor them, pray for them… That’s one huge quality Tyler brings to the team. Apologies if I rambled on there.

Tyler Baker is a great young man, and a valuable addition to any team, including ours.

My prayers are with him regarding the injury, and the season, praying that he has a great one.

Last I heard he was likely done for the season, and more than likely his career.

I ran into Tyler at WalMart Friday night when I was picking up snacks for the bus trip to SB.

It's a torn ACL.

He's taking it about as well as one could expect, but you could see he was down. His VERY LOVELY GF was with him for moral support.
