This entire preseason I've been thinking that we're going to win one or two games before new year's and then we can go .500 or so in conference play after that.

I looked at the schedule today.

We could have nine wins before 2010.

Granted, they won't be quality wins but they would be wins.

We've got four non-Division I schools - that's four wins.

We get CSU and CCU at home with the students here. That's two wins.

We play Mississippi Valley State and either Kennesaw State or Tennessee State. That could be one or two wins.

We play Buffalo or Jacksonville. That could be a win.

While I don't think we'll be world beaters or anything like that, I think there's a legit shot that we come out of 2009 at worst 7-8 and at best 9-6.

A .500 season overall this season is very, very possible.

You are too realistic. :)

I'm sure if you had added a poll, there would have been at least 3 that would have selected 12 wins before 2010.

Buffalo is pretty darn good. Won the regular season Metro title and return a lot. They are REALLY well coached.

Our 2008 squad (regular season champs) needed a miracle and a screw job by the refs to beat them at home and then they beat us by 20 up at their place last year. They are tough.

Jacksonville's a better shot at a win for us than Buffalo. That would mean we lost the game before though. That's why I said could be a win.

I watched jacksonville play last year in Macon and they were pretty good but very very small. they resembled us last year I think they graduated a few starters so they may be down this year.

I dont think we can count anything as automatic until we see what we've got on the floor. We havent seen Tyler Baker, Evan Gordon, or Minaya play and we havent seen Coach Layer call the shots.

We COULD end up with 10 wins before January. We COULD end up with 4. Counting conference teams as automatic wins can only lead to anger, dissappointment, and broken bleachers.

I wouldn't either, but I don't know that they will be very good. They may have more question marks than us. Even Joseph Harris, good as he is, has a history of injuries that rivals TB.

I got a good look up close of the team. It seems they are running & pushing it more than we have in the past. I like that. Look for this team to be in shape during the late stages of the game. That alone can help win ball games.

I think we can really take advantage of some mismatches on offense. We've got some big guys who can really run the floor and is going to help.

I think we look young.

I think we look like we're still trying to figure out our roles.

I think we look like we could develop into something.

I think we are who we thought we were.

Dennis Green is evaluating LU football?

Seriously, I think this is a good look at what we are. I also hope that when these boys make a little run that some don't crown them too soon.

Rooster- I agree it's a good list.. I also agree about not over reacting to success- however, over reacting is what a good deal of folks on this board do so well..

Coastal is my darkhorse in the conference this year. Ellis is under some heat to produce, and as we know from his days at Clemson, he doesn't care about rules all that much.

I'm thinking G-W and LU will be fighting for the #4 seed at the end of the year though, for the right to get our butts handed to us by Radford in the second round.
