McKay has had offers to be head coach's that he would have taken over this offer...UVa has a ton of money to offer but I still think he would have taken the other pretty good offers if he wanted to move on then he would have...just two weeks ago he laughed about going anywhere saying "there's no doubt God has called me here" so I'd be shocked if this results to anything more then someone wanting him
This should surprise anyone though...he's a pretty hot name right now as far as mid majors are concerned I've had a few coach's outside of Liberty tell me that

My colleague at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Jeff White, had something about this in a blog post.
Waiting on callbacks from a couple people, myself.

Bennett is a very strong Christian as well.

If Mckay leaves we might as well just not have a team

Coach,
Please deal with these rumors quickly.
Thanks,

Coach is not going anywhere. He is secure at LU and in a great situation with a supportive administration. An ACC Asst would be a big step DOWN on the career ladder.

My apologies. I wasn't exactly typing up a formal paper. I anxiously await a mistake on your part.
Just kidding with you!

When I heard the Seth talk while I was in Lynchburg a couple of weeks ago it caught me by surprise. This would leave me astounded because it makes such little sense.
He will be courted by programs because he is so well respected in the coaching ranks by his peers. We are very fortunate to have a coach of his caliber running our program. But he certainly conveys himself as a man who gets Liberty more than many of our other coaches past and present.

This is dumb. That's a completely downward move. Although I suppose Dale Layer did it...
I nominate myself as interim coach.

Dale Layer was not our head coach. He went from an assistant in the Big South to an assistant in the Big East. Richie would be going from head coach at a mid-major program on the rise to assistant at a struggling ACC program. Combine that with the connection he has clearly made with the LU community and I just don't see it happening.

I was talking about being the head coach at Colorado St. and then being an assistant at LU. But I looked it up to make sure the time line was what I thought it was and I guess he was fired from CSU. I didn't know that but I guess I should have assumed.

It may not be the pinnacle of the coaching pyramid, but assistant at LU > unemployed.

i dont know guys, the title of a top ACC assistant carries some weight.....also UVA has deep pockets, a top ACC assistant may make more than the head coach of a Big South school.....this is all hypothetical, but if McKay is apart of turning around UVA's program, he would be a hot commodity to big time schools, which I assume is his ultimate goal.......just playing devils advocate

this. will. not. happen. McKay is a man of integrity and wouldn't leave here solely for money even if you threw 10 million dollars at him.

I wish I could share your faith in men.
EDIT: I do also believe that nothing will come of this, for the record. But if you threw 10 million at him...haha I don't know.
Exactly what i was thinking, 10 million is a price he would probably leave for

As far as the money aspect is concerned, if I'm not mistaken McKay had 3 years left on his contract when NM let him go. They pay him the difference between what he made there and his salary here. His contract with NM was $600,000.00/year. I don't think UVA is going to offer him more than that to be an assistant. Keep in mind also that he didn't have to take another job. If he wanted, he could have sat around and just collected his 600g. He chose to coach at LU.

Well, since Bennett was only offered 9.5 m (5 yr contract w/ bonus), we don't have to worry about RMK leaving for 10!

I don't know if it's entirely about the money. But if it is, LU will have to decide whether to increase his salary, elevate Soucie, or look elsewhere.
Either way guys, something is definetley going on. We'll see how it all plays out. Should take shape soon.

It would be interesting to see how different the "How do you feel" poll would look regarding such a move versus the poll on Curry's departure.

I've not heard anything from anyone to add validity to this rumor. I could certainly see Dick offering Ritchie the position. But i just can't grasp how he would take it based on his comments to me and others.

The same source cited in the article above also said that Seth was planning to visit UVA. Highly unlikely since by all reports they weren't even on his list and UVA doesn't even have a scholarship to offer him. IMHO that diminishes their credability on the assistant coaching situation as well.

Same thing was said around Lexington when it came open that McKay would be a candidate for the assistant UVA job. If he were our coach, and his history reflects on anything...I would be worried. His 2 1/2 year average at each school is slowly approaching for LU.
