I assume this may have something to do with Sly's most recent round of cryptic comments. Definately puts us over the schollie limit, so there is no doubt more news to come.

Same HS as David Minaya.

Can't wait to get home and see the video. Youtube is blocked here at work

Hate to speculate... but...

No Bill Weaver? Weren't we talking to his HS teammate as a possible 3rd Commit? Because if we're not bringing in this other guy from Bill's school, maybe we won't be bringing Bill back?

Also, oldflame... if you want a preview of the video.

Imagine a three point barrage with a good, high, quick release. Kid looks like he fits in perfectly. Of course all the video shows is the makes, but still...

"Former Commit"

Guess that answers it.

And I was confused with the Bill Weaver thing. Tre Lee was from Bill's HS, and was already a commit. So ignore my comment.

Good pickup, I used to coach againist that school many moons ago. BTW Oldsmar Christian sent another player to Tennessee Tech U just recently.

Wow. That's a really nice looking recruiting class with a scoring guard, a versitile long forward and a 6'11 shot blocker. We are still over by one schollie, so stay tuned for someone leaving the program for one reason or another.

He's from Bill and Tre's school, too. I am so confused now. We need more info! Someone PM me if you know what's going on... haha.

I thought all Ritchie did was recruit little wimpy guards? :P

Still no wide body. Vander Pol and Soko are both lean and athletic, but it looks like we are going to have tons of length next year as well as a lot more scoring options.

This should be on Ovie's thread, but he has a decent size body. I wouldn't call him wide, but wouldn’t call him lean either.

I played against Oldsmar - Boy have things changed!! They scheduled us for their homecoming game and we beat them 134-35. Looks like he can shoot - I wish the highlight reel included some other highlights though - like passing and defense, but I'm guessing Minaya should be able to give some pretty good insight.

To score 24 a game on the same team with 2 other D1 recruits is pretty impressive.

You have to remember that was the coach speaking...

I played with 4 and not one of them ended up playing D1 ball.

One of those recruits has already committed to Utah State. The other is still looking, the coach said.

From ESPN.com:
September, 2008: Perez is a skilled scorer that can also distribute the ball to open teammates. He handles the ball with his head and eyes up and can change speeds and directions with ease. He can shoot the three, stop and pop for a pull up jumper in transition as well as in the half court attacking from either wing or along the baseline where he has a knack for drawing fouls. Perez has excellent court vision and can pass with either hand. He plays hard and with a sense of urgency on both ends of the floor.

June, 2008: A physically powerful guard, Perez has good muscle mass and definition in both his upper and lower body. He does his best work off the dribble as he plays strong with the ball and goes hard to the rim. His handle is solid and even allows him to push the ball up the floor and lead the break when the opportunity presents itself. He is an adequate standstill shooter from behind the three-point line, although he definitely prefers to put the ball on the floor. He is also a capable passer off the dribble, although he can occasionally put his head down when determined to get to the rim. Defensively, he is sound as he uses his physicality to his advantage in order to contain the dribble.

They also had him considering Georgia Tech, Missouri and Florida State. Graded at an overall 83, and the 119th ranked SG in the country.

My favorite quote from Lang’s piece:
After the Liberty visit, he canceled visits to Fordham, Northeastern, and Creighton.

I hope the part about being strong with the ball and being able to pass off the dribble with either hand is accurate. IMHO Jesse is the only one on our current roster (including Seth) who fits that description. (I haven't seen Minaya enough to know.)

This is very encouraging...
After the Liberty visit, he canceled visits to Fordham, Northeastern and Creighton. Duquesne was also interested, Pannone said. “He liked the Christian atmosphere,“ Pannone said. “And he liked the fact that the coaches were players coaches.
