Why would he CJ? He's the 4th best, numbers wise, on our team.

I guess all conference is all about scoring leaders, isn't it? If that's the case, then Jesse doesn't have a chance.

yeah, he's one of those guys that will never get the credit but we know he's the fuel to the engine

Exactly. I love Jesse, but he's never gonna make a BSC team with the numbers he puts up. 7 points, 7 boards, 7 dimes isn't good enough.

I doubt that. He may not make one this year, but I’m willing to bet he will before his career is done.

I hope so but theres a lot of factors that go into that....like his brother coming, or being out recruited...I'm still not sure Jesse will ever be one of our top scorers and let's be honest, that's about his only chance unless he's shelling out 15 dimes a game

Jesse is a scorer but that hasn't been his role this year. I think you'll see both Jesse and Brolin have their point totals rise quite a bit as sophs. Then again, I also see Carter having a strong impact on the scoring column next season.

And Minaya. And Jeremy.

We've have a lot more options to score next year which will be very good.

He's still got developing to do. Minaya and Anderson have proven they can score at the Division I level. Carter and Austin still have to develop and show that they can before I actually expect anything out of them. I'm sure they can, but I'm not gonna expect it yet.

Absolutely no chance that Jesse Sanders gets all-conference consideration this year. First of all, point guards that aren't big scorers don't get much love at all when it comes to the Big South all-conference teams. Chris Gaynor led WU to four titles at the PG spot, finished as the conference's all time leader in assists and steals, and only managed to make 2nd-team all-conference once.

Also, with 10 teams in the league, there is a ton of competition for the 10 spots. If you try and make an all-conference team now, you have to leave out some good players.

And Sanders has been very good, but he'll have a tough battle to make the all-freshman team. There's about 10-12 guys in the league right now that can make a case to be on that squad. Seth Curry and Keith Gabriel have pretty much reserved their spots, so you have 8-10 guys battling for 3 spots.

We need Jesse to be more of a 7-7-7 guy than anything else. You could see during the Radford game, how much havoc he was creating off the dribble. We have very very good scorers already in Ohman, Smith and Curry. Without someone getting them the ball, we're toast.

Brian Woodson was a very good PG for us...and without Woodson, Blair (and to a lesser extent, Dees) isn't as good as advertised, IMO.

I agree with TDD...Woodson really was what made us go especially in the championship year of 2004. His ability to create and find the open man opened a lot of scoring chances for Blair and Dees and even Gabe Martin...

Without a doubt...I was having the conversation with someone comparing KO's outbursts at times to Woodsons but I was quickly reminded how Woodson always had a good grasp of situations and would never allow his temper cause a hindrance during key parts of the game

Question:

If Seth Curry (or any freshman really) makes first or second team all-conference, should he be included in the All-Freshman team? It seems like since he got the higher honor it'd be pointless to give the freshman one (except for FOY) and the conference could honor one more player in his place.

If he were named Player of Year, they would likely give Freshman of Year to someone else. But being selected first team wouldn't prohibit the FOY designation.

I believe Whit HF and Blair were 1st team all conf the same year they were freshmen of the year but I will have to check on that. Also the year Tony Dunkin from Coastal was fresh of year he was also POY. Only guy to get 4 POY awards in NCAA history. It will likely never be done again.

Ok I checked it out...LB was second team all conference the year he won frosh o Year. Dunkin did win both in 1990. Holcome Faye wasn't all anything his freshman year. Just fresh of year and obviously freshman team.
