"Stephen Curry with the 3!"
This was like 2 games ago. Come on, I expect it from everybody else but our own guy 10 games into the season?

Multiple times every football game; a pass is thrown and the call is either "incomplete" or "it's complete", and the two are usually pretty much indistinguishible.

Last night, apparently Jesse and one of the other team's players got into a little skirmish. JE said "Boy that guy ought to be glad Jesse backed down because he would have…well”

Ha. He's just trying to describe Rashad's showboating.

Do you remember that one time he said the score? That was a great game.

He's always at least a possession behind. You can tell when something happens by the reaction of the crowd while he's still telling you about the call the ref made last possession. And he always tries to make it sound like what he is describing is happening right that second when everyone can obviously tell he's playing catch up.

I think so, if you are talking about the game where he also mentioned how much time was left?

BJ and Sly need to have a contest who can last the longest without turning a thread into about them or their associations...I think Sly will win

I know everyone is just having a little fun, but I am uncomfortable with this thread. Like him or not JE is an institution at LU. We are always talking about traditions and starting new traditions. JE has been a part of the athletic program at LU since the late 70's and is interlocked with the hisrtory of flames athletics. He's as much associated with Liberty as Carey was with the Cubs or Rizzuto with the Yanks. I know we all may have some problems from time to time with him, but he has my respect as the "Voice of the Flames". Let's cut him some slack here. Again, I know you're just having some fun (and I have to admit that some of them are funny) but I am really uncomfortable with this thread. Let's ease up on the "Voice" and give him a little respect. I would hope that he has at least earned that much from us for his 30-years or so with the flames.

I used to feel the same way, but lately I just can't listen to him and don't mind saying so. I can get by his flubs and mispronouncing but as someone mentioned earlier, he's consistently 5-10 seconds behind the crowd's reactions. It's just bad no amount of previous years doing that can make it not bad. He's got a nice comforting voice though.

I think the posts are really funny and only with best interests in mind. I'll be upset the day JE steps aside for the reasons Champion noted but his broadcasts are an adventure in and of themselves to say the least. I'd like to see him stay on a long time to come but perhaps in a role more suited. He and Scar would make a great team with Scar doing play-by-play of course and JE in the Myron Cope mode ala the Steelers.

I appreciate where you are coming from, but I think he is fair game. If this were a "Fire JE" thread, I would agree that a line has been crossed. The intent of this thread is not malicious. I agree that there are some responses from some frustrated listeners that appear on here. I have listened to many games over the years and the biggest complaint is that he does not consistently keep the listener up to date with the score and the time. For those that are listening to him only in the last few years, he is 10 times better at communicating score and time than previously. Jerry Edwards is the "Voice of the Flames" and will be until he retires from the mike. This thread will not permanently tarnish his image or reputation. If you know him personally, please do me a favor. Ask him to frequently update the score and time.
If it makes you feel better, I will start a "Post your favorite Tim Scarborough quote" or Post your favorite Ray Jones quote". They're tough and they can take it.

JE has been the target of a lot of comments here on FF for some time, ranging from poking fun to outright ridicule. I admit to being frustrated at times, but I continue to listen to him if a free video feed is not available. I don't think this is a "fire JE" thread either, but it is clear that some here already have fired him as far as their own listening is concerned by chosing to listen to the other teams broadcast. Quite frankly, I don't get that. It's not like these other teams have hall of fame broadcasters doing their play by play. Often as not those who go this route end up complaining about what incompetent homers they are. I may continue to make fun of him, but If a radio play by play is my only option, I'm going to listen to the voice of the Flames.

I agree. Jerry Edwards is an integral part of the fabric of LU athletics. Heck I wish I could hear the audio of him from the VMI comeback in 2003 (although hearing him on that kick against YSU was awesome).

I listened to a lot of Jerry E over the years and even though he might be slipping a bit due to age I still think that he does one heck of a job with the play by play and with the post game interviews. NO reason to bad mouth him with his years of service, dedication, and love for LU athletics. He has a very unique voice which I find him very easy to listen to even when some of our sports teams had undesirable results.

JE is like Joe Pa, that guy has been here during the darkest of times and LU hasnt always been able to give him everything he deserved back in the day...with all that said JE deserves to decide when he wants to call it quits...LU could/should tell him he needs a side kick but that's just to make the work load easier for him and help modernize the play by play...JE shouldnt go anywhere...he's one of those people JF would have kept on pay roll even after they retired simply b/c everything he's done.
This is a favorite quote thread! Like Sum said not a Fire JE thread! LOL this is no different then having a favorite Yogi Berra, Dickie V, Harry Cary etc...all of those people say funny things from time to time, on purpose or by mistake! Although they realize they say funny things or make funny mistakes and they will be the first ones to laugh with you. I dont understand why people around here (LU) have to be so ultra sensitive and always assume the worst.
Yes some people on here want him to retire but theres like 500 members so dont let a few of those people allow you to jump to the conclusion that EVERYONE thinks he should and any thread like this has bad intentions!
Believe me, a "Post your favorite BJ quote" is coming soon! It's something everyone who says funny/off the wall things deserve!
Anyways carry on with your favorite quotes, just dont make fun or suggest his future.
