i think we can take these guys!!!! personally i think we can crush pc and they help there own in a 71-58 lose, also they only beat Charlotte 71 - 70. Charlotte isnt horrible but i think we could take them too..

what does everyone else think?

I think we have a good shot...but right now I am more concerned about Gardner Webb the day before...it be nice if we can take care of Gardner Webb early to rest some guys before Clemson...but I don't think that will happen

Can we? YES! Will we? If we are firing on all cylanders, I have no doubt. I just hope the shooting heats up a little, and we aren't to tired from the home game and travel the day before. I can't wait to see though. GO FLAMES!

I appreciate the optimism but traveling to Clemson to play is a lot different than UVa. While I think we can keep it close, Clemson has some solid big men and probably will be a little smarter about pounding it in the paint.

Trevor Booker is a big kid...we don't have any one to match up with him down low, unless TB is able to play.

I think if we play the way we played against UVA, then we have a chance at pulling off an amazing victory. I just want us to go out there and show the world that we can run with them. If we keep ourselves within single digits that's something to be proud of. But if our shots are falling, we have a chance to beat our second ACC team this year. 3 pointers are worth more than pounding it inside with their big man for 2. If our threes are falling.... upset alert!

Seriously this game means nothing right now. If we don't take care of G-W it doesn't matter. We're already 0-1 in conference, and if we go to 0-2 while losing a game at home, it will be extremely difficult to recover from that. If/when we take care of G-W, which will be no small feat, then we can think about Clemson.

The team does not need to look past G-W. They are good. They beat Kentucky last year. I think it will be a good game. Coach McKay will have us ready for that game, I'm sure. But with only about 20 hours in between the G-W game and the Clemson game, we have to prepare for both in the next few days. The team will have to travel and sleep in those 20 hours. There will not be enough time for a crash course on Clemson on the bus ride down there. Coach knows this and he will have us ready for Garder-Webb while also knowing what they have to do to beat Clemson the next day.

In football you have to have a week to week mentality but in basketball that is not realistic. Although we can't just look past G-W to Clemson because then we will walk away with a Loss!

In the Big South conference conference games are 5 x more important than non conference.

In every conference, conference games are more important than non-conference games. What's your point?

Yes, G-W is going to be a huge game for us and if we loss it then Clemson the next day really means nothing. But if we beat Webb and then pull off a huge upset over Clemson, then we might have something really special going on here...

No, Big South conference games are more important, and out of conference mean next to nothing.

You will never get an at large bid from the Big South, because your RPI is dragged thru the mud in the conference season. Conference games, however, determine home court in the tournament, which is your only way to the 65.

Exactly. The only thin non-conference games are important for is seeding, and that doesn't matter if you don't win the conference tourney.

right. So doesn't that make them mean more than nothing if your goal isn't just to get into the tourney?

Yes, that's why he said "next to nothing". More than nothing, but close.

Illinois is looking hot against Clemson! Clemson doesnt have the three and like i saw posted above if we have are three on and they only can drive the paint 3 pts is better than 2 pts any day!!

one thing that nonconference games do that you are skipping is help the prestige of the program. this is a longterm thing and we won't see immediate results, but getting face time on ESPN for beating UVA is a big deal, and the more press we get the better. If we win several big games like that it could land us more tv games, help with recruiting, and fill more seats in the long run. In the short term and as far as the success of THIS season though, they don't really help any.

Good point Jdub, also before Seth & co are through at LU non-conference games could be crucial th the season's success.

Our nonconference will play a factor in who we play in Bracketbusters as well. If we want that matchup with Davidson, having a good overall record will help greatly.

That said, I think we have a shot at beating Clemson, but if we don't its not the end of the world. We need to beat Gardner-Webb, thats much more important. Clemson is also not our last shot at a major team, as we play Depual of the Big East.

I think it's already been decided we're playing Davidson. Unless one of the Curry's get hurt, there's no way ESPN turns that down.

How will we do against Davidson? If all eight cylinders are going how will we do?

Has something like that ever happened before? I mean there was the Manning vs Manning thing that was such a big deal but they're 2 QBs and never have to see each other. I just really though about what this matchup would be like for the first time just now. They would most likely be guarding each other quite a bit, if not exclusively. They both know what each other is going to do most likely. Could they keep it serious? I mean they probably have been goofing around when they play each other previously in their lives. How can you not talk smack to your brother if you just drained a big shot with his hand in your face?

It would be the most fun game I have ever watched. You know Seth would guard Steph the entire game. I don't know how we'd do, but it'd be fun to just watch them two. I doubt it would turn into an anything you can do I can do better thing but if it did, holy crap that would be awesome. They'd be jawing at each other the entire game.
