Sorry guys I havent been hiding in the wins, my computer crashed and I havent had one or been by one.
Just wanted to say that McKay has done the things that have needed to be done in changing things up to come up with some huge wins and is doing a great job so much respect for that. The UVA win was huge and the rest since have been as well. Credit to the players and staff for getting it all done. I dont need to list all that they are doing well but I have always said when great things happen I will point it out. Smitty has shown up like never before and so have the rest of the guys. Smitty is taking the leadership role and this team and putting it on his back and I have never talked down on his or disrespected him, but much props and respect for the job he is doing. Lastly, Kyle has put the bullcrap away and has come to WIN... not to PLAY... TO WIN... Props to McKay and the Men on our team. Well done guys.

I don't think we should take all the credit, but from what I hear - McKay spent hours after Asheville game reading our posts and has implemented them very well.
JK - This is like a different team. They are playing hard. They are making the best of the small lineup. Curry is a beast - I think we should go ahead and retire his number next game, because is it inevitable. Sanders is doing a great job running the team and even Stephene is making a positive impact - that guy is FAST and will help create open shots for Curry, Smith, and I can't believe I'm going to say this - Ohman. Their shorts look so much better too.
Now I have re-assigned my anger - and it's to the..............................................Big South.
What a group of idiots!!! They embarrassed the league last year by making us play the BSC tournament in the hole they call a Gym in Asheville and then to make it worse - they center their whole focus on George (who didn't even play) by putting a National televised game back in there. They should have made Asheville come to us. I am certain that the reason we played so poorly is because we had to shoot in Gym where the goals are bolted to the walls. Wake-Up Big South - Liberty is your focal point for the next 4 years - we give the league more exposure than any other team with televising all our games and now we have the most exciting freshman in college basketball - hands down.

I thought of a new analogy earlier. All 5 of the starting 5 (and a couple of others) are playing like 5 tool baseball players. They are doing everything well and therefore sharing the load. We don't have a dominant rebounder, so everyone has to help. Everyone is stepping up in the zone to tighten down the defense. Many guys are getting on the assists. It is a real team, and I hope this improvement continues. It is obvious the philosophy changed after Asheville, and had to. I love it.

Normally when you uh..... finish first in the conference you get to play at home during the playoffs.
Asheville is in the process of getting a new place I think, so chillax

The jokes about papa Dell's "swimmers" are humorous (if in somewhat questionable taste), but let's not forget that he only put in half the ingredients in the genetic Curry stew. Mama Sonya was quite the athlete as well, and although volleyball was her sport at the D1 level, she apparently played some serious hoops too, and has been active in both son's development on the hardwood.

I understand they finished first, but the BS should have made them move there games to the Asheville Coliseum (I think that's it) - I remember in college - they made CSU hold theirs off campus.

I concur. They claimed it would be a "logistical nightmare", but apparently that was not a problem several years ago when the conference held the entire postseason (men's and women's) basketball tourney in one location, and they hosted it at the Ashville Civic Center for 2 years. It's essentially a minor league hockey arena, which holds about 4000. It's nothing to write home about, but still a big step up from the Justice Center. I'm pretty sure they have also played "home" games against the Tar Heels there more than once.

It's good to read all of these posts and know that we are all LU fans first and foremost and happy to see the success of the team. I personally feel that the "turnaround" did not start with the midnight practice after the UNCA game. It started when Richie was hired as our coach. That game was awful, but it was no more an indication of the talent and charactor of this team than the Presby game was for football. Hopefully we have learned a lesson about not getting carried away and throwing the team, coach and AD all under the bus based on 40 minutes of bad basketball.
Big game against G-W Saturday. Being 5-1 today feels good, but if we don't win that one, we are 0-2 in conference. Not the end of the world, but a bit of a hole to dig out of.

I told him after the game...these wins are nice...but what I'm happiest with is the attitude change we've seen...thats not a easy thing to do, and 9 times out of 10 you have to wait until your previous team graduates.

I looked back and read those old threads and I want to defend myself and all the other posters on this subject. I don't think anyone was throwing anyone under a bus - we were venting. Everyone on this board wants the best for Liberty Athletics - and that game was frustrating. This is a posting board and I think it should be a place where we speculate, tear things apart, give constructive criticism, blast a players actions, etc... That is what creates great entertainment value in sports. Without negative - sports would be boring. I love what McKay is doing and the talent he has brought in, BUT I want a big guy. Call me selfish, but don't call me a traitor.
I'm also happy to see Carter sitting the Pine;) And everyone keep telling yourself it's because he's hurt - it's not - he does not fit in to McKay's system - RIGHT NOW. I just hope he works at his post game and get on a good steady diet to add some meat to those bones. Did anyone watch the MSU vs WSU game? I thought Carter was playing in that game - they had a big guy that looked lost in the lane too.

proto ... McMasters is hurt. You're right in regards to the fact that he needs to get bigger and become a post, not a shooting wing. But he is hurt. Have you seen him try to run before games? He's absolutely hobbled.

Opinions may vary on what was posted following the UNCA loss. There was most definately some real negativity going on, and IMHO a lot of conclusions were jumped to based on a very limited amount of data. "If this team isn't hitting it's 3s we will get blown out every time" (or words to that effect) were typed more than once. Well, we just beat 2 pretty good, well coached, CAA teams in 48 hours hitting a mediocre % both from 3 and overall. Venting is fine, but when people do it with so much vitriol after only one bad game, I don't think it's out of line to at least wonder about agendas. Great to hear everyone is on the bandwagon (oops, I mean "on board") now.
