UVa plays South Florida on Wednesday, Radford on Friday, and LU on Tuesday, and they've already beaten VMI 107-97.

I grew up a UVa fan.

I know they don't have Singletary anymore, but from what I understand by reading TheSabre.com, they have a solid post presence this year. Though I know they are definitely worried about guarding Curry.

How Stupid of them! We should walk away with this one easily because 3's are worth more than 2's...

Well, having beaten VMI by 10, we should get another indication of our comparative strength... plus they will have faced RU by then..

Um, just so you know, the transitive property doesn't work in sports, especially when VMI is involved.

Much like VMI, Liberty is going to have a very difficult time defending Mike Scott. I wouldn't be surprised if he had another double-double type game against the Flames.

Um, I have played a few "sports", and "just so you know", I wasn't saying we could predict the scores of our league games through athletic interpolation, simply that you can perform some rough evaluation by looking at common opponents.

(Maybe we're all a little sensitive right now. Hopefully we'll all feel better after Tuesday)

You can't compare common opponents. We beat Montreat by more than UNCA did and they killed us. That doesn't work.

In the way which I think you mean this, I agree with you. As others have alluded to: hot shooting, home court, momentum, match-ups; .... these all can turn things upside down in a hurry. There is no sure-fire prediction, or there would never be upsets, but common opponents are one of the factors considered by most when they attempt to pick a favorite.

No guarantee, just general evaluations.

To consent to your premise: George Foreman just about killed Joe Frazier, Ali whipped Old George, but Frazier basically fought Ali to a standstill. (Hope that "way-back machine" is still working for you guys).

I was courtside at the South Florida game tonight and UVA is going to be tough to keep off the glass. They don't shoot that well but they defend pretty well. I am looking forward to seeing how this young LU team bounces back after a major setback.

What kind of pull do you have to get those sort of seats, Scar? :D

Anyway, the Radford-Virginia game should be interesting because the Highlanders have some size to throw at Scott and Tucker on the boards. Not sure they can do anything with Landesberg, though. I really want to see what Landesberg can do when he faces top notch ACC competition. I don't think he's going to score 20 every night, but he's so good around the basket that he'll find a way to get his points.

No UVa-Radford for me Friday, though. Gotta go to Gretna for the Region B championship game.

Eh, it's reality when you only have four writers available and four prep playoff games to cover. Prep playoffs > regular season college hoops. I agree with it.

It's funny to hear how it will be tough to match up with Tucker on the boards when his game resembles Tyler Baker so much.

It does ... but Leitao has made it a point of emphasis with Tucker to get him to the glass more often. Tucker is still going to be more of a wing offensively. He was basically a jumpshooter last night against USF. But defensively, he's crashing the glass a little more than in the past.

Actually, in the limited PT he has had Tyler has rebounded well. It is his offensive game which has been so perimeter oriented. The first time I saw him play (Blue-White intersquad game) he sent the game into OT with an offensive rebound/stickback, and then won it with a nearly identical play at the end of OT. His Senior year of HS he averaged 15 boards a game.

I know some folks up in C Ville. Ted Jeffries is a pretty good friend of mine that played with Bryant Stith and John Crotty. I forgot my camera last night or I would have taken my obligatory Chris Lang candit shot. There will be other opportunities....No Radford/UVA for me either. I am tired of driving 64. I was there Sunday and Wed plus Im going on Tuesday to the Liberty game.

I'm planning on going and doing the family pack, too. Dinner at Wood Grill before the game: best buffet on the planet.
