That based on the heights and weights on the SID online rosters, the "tiny" lineup we are expecting to start this year will be both taller and heavier than our starting lineup last year.

2007-2008:

TeeJay Bannister 5'11" 176
BJ Jenkins 6'0" 178
Anthony Smith 6'5" 215
Rell Porter 6'7" 195
Alex McLean 6'8" 235

Average Height 6'3.8"
Average Weight 199.8

2008-2009:

Jesse Sanders 6'3" 200
Seth Curry 6'3" 180
Kyle Ohman 6'4" 200
Anthony Smith 6'5" 220
Brolin Floyd 6'6" 212

Average Height 6'4.2"
Average Weight 202.4

Discuss among yourselves.

OK, I've been totally focused on Football and have been out of the basketball loop. So I have a dumb question. What happened to Carter?

1. Bannister was more than 176
2. BJ was 180 after having mono this summer losing a lot of weight so I know that wasnt right.
3. Smitty 220? Eh Maybe... Sure why not... I just heard he was asking to be listen at 220

I dont trust these listings... we used to have LB at 6'2" 185... Cmon now.

I think it's going to take some time for Carter to get adjusted to the college game. He's used to shooting over just about everyone..

So with all these skewed numbers, we have not discovered anything.

I think this is the most excited everyone has been for basketball to start in a while.
Even though we have so many freshman, and it's a mystery as to how good we really are and where we'll finish the year - everyone is extra excited about this team.

I think our freshman are highly touted has a lot to do with it as well. Most of that stems from Curry but McMasters and Floyd are both pretty big recruits. Up until now, our highest ranked recruit in years was Larry Blair and after that, most of them haven't made much noise.

I can't vouch for all the figures of course, but they are about as "official" as we are going to get.

Re: TeeJay............. He may have weighed more than 176, but I think 5'11" might have been a "stretch".

I just thought it was interesting to see that even with Alex in the lineup last year, we were not very big as a team, and of course we we had no depth at all. This year, playing our smallest, most athletic lineup, we will have similar overall size, while presenting some real matchup headaches for teams that usually play a true 4 and 5. Those guys will have to keep up with Smitty and Brolin. Have fun Joey  !

I LOVE the idea of starting small (6'6" post) and then having our second string come in at 6"9, 6'9", and 6'11"--and all three of those guys coming off the bench are much more athletic than Big Russ was last year.

That's the issue really. Give him 25 lbs and a couple years of post work and he could be a dominant force. He doesnt have to dominate in the paint, just play well enough to be respected down low and kill them outside
