Judging on how last year it never happened b/c RM felt like we havent done anything to deserve the hype, I doubt last year changed his mind....we'll see though, I'd like for there to be one

Let's face it, the highlight of any Midnight Madness is a good slam-dunk contest/exibition, and last year that would have pretty much been a 1 man deal. I would come this year just to see the show Smitty, Brolin and Weaver could put on. I hear Austin can throw it down pretty well too.

midnight madness always seemed hit or miss...lb winning the dunk contest as a freshman was a highlight at the schilling...but the next 3 after that really were lackluster if not embarrassing amateur hours...dont't bring anyone out of the stands for fan participation..give away free food...extend the dunk contest to the whole night after player introductions... educate the fans on proper cheers, practice the slow clap so it doesnt get too fast too quick..maybe give away a blue tshirt or two to tick off sj and call it a night

I think with the new NCAA rules, you kinda have to have fan participation games. However, those things all depend on who the person leading the whole thing is and how they run the event. If everything is scheduled where this has to be done by this time, etc, it won't be any good. If you have fun with the whole thing and just try to make it entertaining then it's normally better. The last one we had in RD's last year was absolutely horrible.

The first LU Midnight Madness I ever went to was Hanky's first year: it was so bad, maybe McK is trying to stay as far away from the Hanky past as possible. :nonono

The last one I attended, nobody was there. I think there was something like 200 kids?

It's got to be discouraging to the players.

I think if we were to have it, it needs to be in one of the smaller places on campus. The Vines, even with 1000 people there, would feel empty. Pack that many people into Schilling or Lahaye and you could have a great atmosphere.

I think Lahaye would be a great idea SJ

the last midnight madness that was good was the one where Toby Mac and Jerry Falwell and somebody else were judges for the slam dunk contest....that was a ton of fun...that was 2003 I believe....good times for sure!

Bring back SCAR and a few of his :oldhag players to judge the slam dunk contest, and they will pack the house! For crying out loud, SCAR's ETSU dunk is on U-Tube, baby! (in my best Dickie V. voice).
:exactly

Speaking of alumni games, is it on the schedule for homecoming?

no sound system and not open to the public are two obstacles that come to mind.

seems like schilling would be the logical choice

Id like to see a midnight madness in Schilling or Lahaye (HF why would it not be open to the public?). I was at the last one and I kept thinking to myself that I could do a better public address job (Ive done that for about 7 years)

Oddly enough, with RM at the helm, you shouldn't expect a midnight madness for quite some time...

RMK is not having one this year...Quite disappointing considering my new physique. I would have been able to actually run up and down the court more than once this year
