jl...calm yourself. JB and the search firm have things under control and as he said in the update, they hope to have something in a couple weeks or so. I trust him, and I reckon most everybody else does too.

I don't think Dale's timetable for moving away from Forest is based on who the new coach is or when we hire him. I'm sure he is moving on with his life, which includes a pretty sweet paycheck for the next 3 years whether he gets another gig or not. I guess he didn't get the message to do his grocery shopping at 3 AM so noone who knows who he is will see him and feel "awkward."

In Prohm's case I just think that if you are already doing ok financially there is no reason to take a step lateral or even lower to get more money. In the long run these guys usually have their eye on bigger conference jobs. So taking a Big South job, even one that would pay $1M dollars isn't worth the potential impact to your career. Now if he didn't have a job, that might be a different story. This is a tough business and sometimes you have to take what you can get. That's why I think it is important for JB to hire someone that truly wants to be here and not view this as a stepping stone job.

Despite my earlier comments, I actually agree. Prohm's name has already come up with The Bama opening and a possible opening at UTK. He is on a roll at Murray St. and no doubt is confident he can continue to win there, in which case if not this year, the high major opportunity will be coming soon. Meanwhile, half a mil a year ain't bad.

It's also nice as a head coach to be the biggest program on campus. Look at Smart (VCU), Marshall (WSU), and Few (Gonzaga). These guys are in great mid-major jobs without football teams to compete with. If I were them, I wouldn't want to leave the setup and go to a school where football is king.

Football is king now, but it wasn't always the case. Once the basketball team gets a more accessible venue (and starts winning consistently), the pendulum could swing again.

Believe me, he feels more awkward than you do. smh. Lots more important things to be concerned about.

I actually didn't think Beej was that snarky on that one. It was the proper response to someone saying we needed a new coach because it was awkward the old one still lived in town.

Apparently he hasn't been around the past seven years.

You' ve got to believe me, when I tell you I know what Jeff did to his team, he resigned two weeks before the season's first game. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Ask the players who were here then. I know this to be fact. Get over him coming back to LU.

Jon's right...I mean its not like he has to go shopping at 3 AM (as someone else suggested), or drive around with all his windows tinted or pretend not to be noticed everywhere he goes. The man has a life too...he still has bills to pay, he still has to cook his dinner when the wife is out of town and I'm sure he has a "honey-do" list just like all us married FFers get to deal with from time to time. He doesn't have to make significant lifestyle changes just becausr it might be considered "awkward".

Jeff HASNT been here for 15+ years. So please tell me what he's done to this team that just finished another 20 loss season.
We ALL know when he resigned so it's not like you are providing any crazy insight there
There is no need to re litigate the WHY behind the resignation.
If his name were Timothy Craig, he would be our leading candidate
