Ha ha, Ty's a great kid, i've known him for a while. I'm actually coaching the Varsity Girls team at the HS he graduated from, that way I can coach in our Boys AAU program in the summer (so there are no conflicts :) ).

Tell him he better be pumping iron and eating, he needs to keep putting some meat on them bones :twisted: !

I wouldn't ban him, he will be on whatever board of the school RD goes to. Of course, it may be a gymnastics coach teaching cartwheels, but LUnreal will join him I suspect. :lol:

Without a doubt, this is a great day in LU history, and regardless of ethnicity,
I truly believe that McKay is the right man for the job. Ritchie McKay has a
reputation as a disciplined leader who always gets the most out of his players.

Dale Layer may be coming in as a part of Ritchie's new staff. Dale has over seventeen years of head coaching experience and has enjoyed some success.




Here's an AP article from March, 12:


FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State coach Dale Layer was fired today after a 17-13 season and sixth-place finish in the Mountain West Conference.

Athletic director Paul Kowalczyk said it was "time to move in a different direction." Layer had a year left on his contract.

Layer had a 103-106 record over seven years. Colorado State went 6-10 in the league this season.

The coach declined comment and was not present when Kowalczyk made the announcement.

Layer was hired April 11, 2000, after two years as a Colorado State assistant under Ritchie McKay, who was fired by New Mexico in February.

He signed a five-year extension after leading the Rams to the Mountain West championship and NCAA tournament in 2003. They lost to Duke in the NCAA West Regional that year.

Layer coached at Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., for nine years, twice leading his team to the NCAA Division II tournament while compiling a 168-87 record.

Has anyone mentioned that McKay coached against both Longwood and Charleston Southern this year? They aren't a huge deal but it was cool to see two teams from our neck of the woods were on the schedule in December.
