This whole process is getting confusing. First, one guy's got the job, then wait, he wants more money, then this other guy has the job, now there are new names... confusing.

Thats...
...THE LIBERTY WAY...
...why not just give the job back to RD and eliminate all the confusion.

What did we do before message boards? At least my day is going a little quicker at work as a result. As Haize said in reference to RD...at least its interesting

He may have been in the building, but I doubt he was at convo.

IF...
...it is McKay, then we need to rally around the man. If its good enough for JB, its good enough for me. McKay has done nothing (outside of articles which may be only one side of the story) to shame LU. We need to give the man a chance...
...and I say this even though I posted in a couple of the threads. Again, unless he gives us reason to slam him, he deserves our support.

I kinda feel sorry for him b/c I know how relentless some of our fans can be....
haha you quoted yourself

anyways....If he is our coach I will give him a chance, I won't come to conclusion based on some articles...I am sure some people will be negative....but such is life I guess

I have a feeling that McKay, if hired, will have a great press conference. It seems like he is a great speaker. My only fear is based on the article that was wriiten about being a dictator of sorts in practice. That could rub some of the players the wrong way. Part of me says tough. Maybe that is kind of what the players need is a coach that will be respected. The more I think of it, I am swaying toward McKay. He's only 41, maybe he was in over his head, at NM and trying to do too much, a big time Christian, this could be a good fit for him (less pressure).

While the articles scare me a little bit, if Jeff Barber puts his faith behind McKay then I will too. Barber hasn't made a wrong move yet, so until he does, I trust him completely.

exactly SJ....JB has done everything in his power to make this program stronger....no reason that would change now

Unless McKay does something while here that makes me question him, I will give him my support

I am the same as you guys. If McKay is the guy, I will support him. I trust JB, and his decision making. Whoever he chooses, I will support, and hopefully the high majority of our fans, students, faculty do as well.

this was a piece of the article from scout.com written by dom zarrella. Maybe McKay needs a pass...

I am sick of these Lobo fans that will turn their back on that program because they disagree with the way the coach runs the team. The fans that would not show up at the Pit to ROOT FOR YOUR team because you figured you were smarter than the coach.

How LITTLE LEAGUE PARENT of you. I am sick of Lobo basketball and soon maybe football, because of the people I sit next to in the stands. YOU GUYS ARE THE WORST.

In my world, you root for your team because they are YOUR team! Go to a game in the Pit or University Stadium to help your team overwhelm the other team with raw emotion and passion from a packed house of frenzied fans! Of course you are not going to agree with everything the coach does…GROW UP! He’s trying everything he can do to win the game.

Try this for a change – BACK YOUR HEAD COACHES! SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! Unconditionally! You might be surprised how well the Lobos play when the players “feel the love.”

McKay never had a chance. Fans crushed him from the first moment he was named head coach. Genius fans said, ‘Why settle for McKay, Pat Riley is available”. “McKay, he’s not good enough for us! We were ranked #3 in the country for a week in 1978”. Ha! What a joke!

Fans and the Media ran Fran Fraschilla out of town and now you have

Ditto. I feel strongly that JB would not hire him unless it was a good decision to make. Speculation is fun though. There seems to be a lot of question on RM, but JB will get answers! 8)

One of my biggest fears is that a brand new coach already has the fans divided in a state that looks like 3 months ago

Its scary how much this reminds of things some FF's have been screaming for the last few years!

SJ is correct....JB understands how important this is to him and his future at Liberty University....so we'll have to trust JB until unworthy of our trust

Lets just be honest for a second about our student body....they are not like most of us on here that will look into the coaches past and find all the good things and bad things being said...they will base their opinion on the appearance of the man and how well spoken he is...that is why Coach Rocco got so much support...people laughed at the flag statement he made at convo, but they liked his passion and he did a good job at connecting with the students

This is really what most students will notice...how will the coach connect with them....they may not think that in their head, but that is what it comes down to...so if McKay does a good job from the start reaching out and connecting with the student body then I think he will get support

People know this is Liberty, they don't expect us to advance deep into the NCAA tourney every year...they just expect us to be competitive every year....I think if McKay gets things going as far as PR with the students goes in a positive direction from the start he will gain most peoples support....if he doesn't....then well that is a whole other story

So there's been a lot of beating around the bush in these threads, but does everybody who isn't "in the know" realize that this is our next head coach? Because he is.

I'm OK with it if he is, but this skeptic would like some reason to believe that!
