that was a joke... I have no info.. ie... Rasheed Wallace is not coming here
Could a staff member/coach get reps? He'd lead the way, that's for sure.

Mel Hankinson for head coach!

Geez, why you gotta be so mean spirited?
I doubt if Mel would come back. But possibly Ty Nichols, Chad Hankinson or Mike Doig. :D
Mike Doig coached at my high school in Florida before Liberty. He is an awesome guy and really loves the Lord. I have no idea what he has been doing though since being canned.

There'd be a little extra haze on the mountain if you know what I'm saying.

And I don't mean the Purple variety. Well....maybe if it's the really good stuff.

Cline sounds like a good potental hire for the following reasons:

(1) probably played at Wake during the Rocco years, thus "Rocco-like"
(2) brother played for LU, so there's your insider connection
(3) he's from a small town in West Virginia, so he would be moving closer to home
(4) in a few years, he will probably be sporting a Scar-like haircut
(5) does anyone want to live in Okahoma long-term anyway?

Mckay may be your best bet. With him and JF,the base would get fired up. I think that Dale Lair may also be on the hot seat. Lair was McKays former boss at Queens and assistant at CSU and now head coach at CSU.I wonder if your recruits have changed their minds and are looking elsewhere? If anyone else was real interested I'm sure they are looking for contact. Where is Marshall going? Oh, TBGonnaB, you can answer any way you want.

I am sure that JB is seeking guidance from sources "outside" the LU Mountain. (Of which I know one person who will not be happy they are not being consulted!) He has connections, he knows this is his "baby" I am sure HE will make the decision based on HIS research
As for Coach Ford, that whole DUI thing may be a tough sell. But you can always check AA to see if he is available.
I have 100 dollars that says no one on the current staff will be hired as the head coach.
I would be suprised to see anything "break" until after the first weekend of the NCAA's or even till after the Final Four (Since that is a HUGE Coach Pimp session) but I may be wrong. We could go with the Al Davis approach and hire someone who isn't coaching, wasn't all that successful when he was, and than bring in someone runing a Bed and Breakfast as Associate head coach. Just a thoughtQ

From the Utah website that Sly posted:
Giacoletti then moved on to the professional ranks as an assistant coach and director of player personnel for the Fresno Flames of the World Basketball League from 1987-89.
Talk about history repeating itself, Coach Giacoletti has already coached the Flames...maybe that's a sign!

any thought of bringing in an outside source to assist with the search? like we did in football?
Would that be Hankinson, Meyer, or Dale Gibson?

On second thought, bring in SCAR as our outside source!!! :P

Was that about me or Dale Gibson? I have shared a meal or 2 with him and if it was a drinking game I would have been under the table  Haize is big time division 1 as well in terms of putting food away (at the same meal no less). 8) :P

Just out of curiosity is it a prerequisite to be a Christian to coach at LU? I see alot of great names for potential coaches I wonder how many people would want to coach at a Baptist school. I would also wonder how many of those coaches have a christian coaching style. I think this process is alot harder then it seems!

BTW I didnt get the chance to say this on the other thread but thank you Coach D - thank you for giving me a shot

Yes, all coaches--and all professors--must be Christians; JB even wants his coaches to go to church every Sunday. However, we dropped "Baptist" from our university's name in 1985. Many of our faculty and staff go to churches other than Baptist these days. In fact, the latest poll I saw stated that only 40% of our study body was Baptist.

Their School of Divinity is loosely associated.

Well even before they lost the Baptist affiliation there was drinking there. However, there is absolutely no affiliation between the school and the church.

Which is in the city of Wake Forest and not in Winston-Salem: the original Wake Forest campus, before they moved to Winston.

Correct. The school was started as a Baptist school but they've since split from the church.

Wrong my friend. Southestern Bible College is on the old Wake campus in Wake Forest. The School of Divinity is in Wait Chapel mainly.

False. The original Wake Forest campus is occupied by Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, which is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Wake Forest School of Divinity is located at 1834 Wake Forest Road in Winston-Salem.

I almost went to Wake (I'm serious), I have friends at Wake, friends' parents who work at Wake, and all of that stuff. That's one school I actually know something about.

Back to the issue at hand: our new head coach.

if Alex gets overlooked for the head coach position, what makes us so sure that he doesn't become a canidate at Winthrop after Marshall leaves?

Are we really comfortable with him moving on to something good in our conference and we end up with someone like Duckett who was hired simply because he knew Barber at South Carolina of all places. Since when was the University of South Carolina known for quality basketball?

Can we be certain that any coach can come in here and keep our core group of players together unless Alex Sherard remains on in some capacity?

In the final analysis, isn't Sherard clearly the safer pick?

Isn't he clearly the logical choice?
