ECUpirate wrote:our program is generally pretty mediocre in the grand scheme of college basketball's 335 teams but nothing like last year. Last year the reason we were so bad was because players transfering over the summer with the new coach that left us no time to recruit. We had players transfer to Pitt, Marquette, UTEP and Xavier before the season. The year before that we had 3 other players transfer as well so it really depleted our talent.

The ECU transfer to Pitt and is starting and averaging 13ppg on the #2 team in the nation. I think you guys undersale the type of talent we have been getting, we just haven't been able to keep them 4 years. Seeing this team it is clear to me that Stokes has brought in some good talent, IMO better than what I have seen in a while. They are young but I will be absolutely shocked if we get run of the court. That includes by Winthrop as well.
well thats the same thing with us last year. one of our players is the best player on Lafayette (cajuns). he is averaging 22. we had a 7 footer get dismissed from the program, and our only senior last year decided not to come back. i think with those guys, we are a totally different team. expecially with dees.

and you guys will see how good we get when dwight comes in a few saturdays.

This is really going to be interesting Sat....They are very similar too us.(new faces). We need to win this game, but don't mark a W just yet. I hope we will win, but I don't think our game plan will be good enough to win.

can we make it a rule never to mention Dees again??? That began the downfall....man, imagine if Dees and Blair played together all 4 years...totally different....Dees was so good....see this is what happens when you bring Dees up...never again...ok Scar??

Thanks, that was pretty interesting, although not too much we didn't already know. Interview starts at about 34:30 and is about 13 minutes long.

And a few cheesesteaks at Geno's doesn't hurt the enticement to travel, eh Chris?

I'm anxious to see how our new guys like Alex perform against a quality opponent. It was tough to tell much against OU because they played so well and we couldn't do anything right in the first half. So this will be a nice measuring stick against a similar opponent talentwise.

no different from the rashad hype.

Yes it is. People didn't say, "Just wait til Rashad, we'll be so much better" about 27.4 times a day. Plus, we had been able to watch Rashad play in the spring game. We knew what he was bringing. People didn't hype them up. To use my commercials reference, with Rashad, there was probably one commercial per half. With Brew, it's like the old MTV X-games ripoff where they played the same commercial each break.

Do they have Geno's in Loretta? I thought Loretta was closer to Philly, but it's between Johnstown and Altoona, so it's not that far of a drive from here, about 300 miles or so. No longer than Conway.

so we didn't see dwight beast in the blue white game??? did we not see how easy it was for him? he had 20 something in 1st half, and got hurt from after getting hit in the head in the secound half. he also had double digit rebounds.

but the blue/white game must be different in bball than in football right?
i don't get why things are so different for football than they are for bball

Sorry, I was momentarily thinking St. Joe's and not St. Francis. Our Wrestern PA boys could fill you in on that area. They might have a Quaker Steak somewhere close. I love their onion rings & wings.

Right, we've seen him perform so we know he'll be good. But every post about something with the basketball team is followed by the Kool-Aid drinker's creed: Wait til Brew.

this whole kool-aide vs hater thing is getting dumb. We all know that some guys see no wrong and some guys see no right.

I think what most of "us" are saying is, wait until judging this team (and the coach) until Brew gets fully in the mix. That will be about big south games time. By the way, can we put a "Countdown to Brew" clock on the top??
