Depends on the student athlete. Circumstances seem to dictate Allen needed to

If he indeed is not on campus now, it may be he needed to be in summer school elsewhere............... to complete his HS diploma. That would be a hopeful scenario. It's probably more likely that the situation requires more than a summer to straighten out and we can look for him to be putting together his latest mixtape dunkfest at a prep school somewhere on the east coast.

It is a coincidence. Williams is a 2015 prospect, he still has a year of HS left.

I'm pretty sure it would be a violation to actually make attending summer school mandatory BJ. Having said that, you can be sure an incoming freshman is not going to be making a very good impression on his new coach if he does not have a VERY good reason for not being there. Besides getting a head start academically, that first summer is a great opportunity to bond with teammates on and off the court in an environment which is much different than the regular school year.

An example of an "excused absence" would be Davon Marshall, who missed summer school/workouts 2 years ago because he needed to take and pass a couple of JUCO courses to complete his associate degree. I believe James Johnson is taking courses this summer at SDSU to finish his undergrad degree so he can play here as a grad student.

He is, but that's not what his FlamesNation profile says. :?

If Smith takes the next step we all think he can, and the transfer from San Diego state is half as good as he was suppose to be out of HS, I think we have a lot of good pieces, and could compete this year for a BS title.

You guys realize, that you are just guessing who will make up the crew, that rearranges the deck chairs on the Titanic?
So many new faces, etc. I don't see us doing much better than last year, unless the guy from SDSU is a huge stud.

Would have loved to have Allen on board and hope he eventually makes it to the mountain after doing whatever he needs to do to qualify. I don't think he would have made much if any difference this year, and may well have been redshirted. He would likely have been the 3rd or 4th forward off the bench had he played.

We've lost 60 games in 3 years. I'm not sure we can overlook anyone.

With Bonds gone and a kid named Jordan Dembley now in (according to another thread), I reckon itll be an interesting go of things for the point guard spot. I think Retic will go in as the starter into practice, but if Dembley can get up to speed quickly he will make it interesting

Expectations will be low, for sure. But most people picked Coastal to finish 5th in the South last year because no one knew what they had. So you never know until you see the product on the floor.

Lang's right...on first blush I would set it at about 12.5 or 13.5 on the o/u. if the class had stayed intact probably 15.5

If you are bad, change is good. We have been bad. I am hopeful we will be better. The turnover is so huge it's really hard to project what we will do but I can certainly say I feel better going in with this group than if we had everyone back.

Guard play will determine how successful we are this year. At this early point It's hard to have a lot of confidence in the guards returning/coming in. We'll have to see how the team develops chemistry and finds their respective roles that best suits the teams needs and character (which will develop over the course of the preseason/OOC games). Nonetheless I remain optimistic Play Basketball

I think we can get a better idea when the schedule is out manson, but I figure its an early projection just based on what we have coming in/returning

what do you need to see a schedule for..you know who we play in the big south and you know we normally don't beat a lot of our non conference opponets even if they are bad teams

And the roster for the 2014-15 team has been posted on the AC site.

http://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cfm ... 1&TeamID=6

Things that caught my eye:

I guess we can now officially say that we will be entering a season with less than a full compliment of 13 scholarship players (12) for the first time in the "Layer era" (which we are evidently still entering).

Both James Johnson and Evan Maxwell are listed at 6'10" 245. Johnson is listed as a F, but I think it's pretty safe to say he will start at C. Maxwell is the only player listed as a C.

No senior stats listed in the profiles of any of the incoming Freshmen. Eric Brown is the AC person in charge of both MBB and the website. Get on the stick Eric.

I don't know much about the level of basketball played in Denmark, but Peter Moller's profile looks pretty impressive on "paper".

Eric also works on women's soccer and has been dealing with that right now. Season opens tomorrow.
