Explaining anything to you guys is like LU watching any other news than Fox.

They obviously cant give HP the tournament as I said in my original post, but there is a HP bias out there.

And as I said in response, they can have an HP bias all they want, but until High Point starts making some hay in the regular season and the postseason (i.e. not losing in the Big South Tournament and getting wins over mid-major and high major teams) they really aren't going to help the conference any.

Since I am too lazy to see what you posted, what is this theory you have BSK? And why High Point?

This
Bigsouthking wrote:High Point is the new Winthrop in the Big South. By that I mean you will see more and more favoritism headed their way. TV games, scheduling perks, like last 2 games of the week at home, etc. their campus has the money and curb appeal and KK knows they are NOT leaving the league so why not help boost their profile.
Followed by this with a rebuttal

Just another fact to back my comments. And the numbers of those weekly winners aren't nearly impressive as others in the league. Oh well believe what you may.. The one thing about Liberty Christians they are usually naive.
You lost me when you mentioned the word 'facts' and how HP got the Player of the YEAR and the Freshman of the YEAR last week? Maybe if you said POW/FOW it would lend a bit more credibility.. but Noreen guarded Rowsey the last time we spoke too so... carry on

Is men's head officials a HP grad, yes. Did HP get to play on Friday night when every other team played on Saturday, meaning HP got extra day of rest for tournament, yes. John Brown was academically ineleigble per NCAA rules as a freshman, therefore he should pay his own way as a freshman, do you actually think he did? Allen Chaney is 27 years old, VT doctors said no way he should play, but HP doctors said it's okay?? Thankfully he didn't die. Last week of the season HP had 2 home games, yes, that shouldn't happen, 1 road 1 home to finish the season. Who played in the most ESPN U games, HP.

Excuse me Dingaling, POW week was Wallace, FOW was Perez for the final week.

Karl Hess never called an LU game as long as I been watching. Not sure how far you go back PH. Maybe in the 80's pre Big South days.

Continue to watch in the coming years and I will come back these post eventually.
FOW of the week for the final week was Keon Johnson of Winthrop...

Also, Liberty played 2 home games in the final week...so that shouldn't have happened either? 4 teams played 2 home games the final week, 4 teams played two roadies, and 4 teams played one of each. HPU was one of those teams. Maybe the League was just trying to mask its HPU favoritism by including three other teams (including Liberty) in this huge advantage of two home games during the last week.

HPU played in 2 of the 4 ESPNU games that the Big South had...so did Radford...so did Campbell. Again, nice work by the Big South to hide that favoritism by letting RU and CU in on the TV fun.

To their credit though. they did beat two teams early on who are both playing for a spot in the Big Dance tonight (Wofford and William and Mary).

I'm sure that was all due to Kyle K's influence and under the table pay offs 8)

BSK had 1 legitimate point in the HP favoritism angle and that was in regard to their last regular season Friday night game schedule giving them 1 more days rest.. perhaps there was a reason for that from HP or Campbell folks, I dunno.. it was a little strange to me as well.. but HP had to play the additional make up game from the snow postponement the week earlier and had lots of games the week prior.. the one extra day didn't change anything and I would actually argue that too much rest makes teams rusty more than anything.. which is why you see teams plays non-D1s after final exam/during x-mas break..

HP playing 2 games at home when the tourney was at Coastal was no favor as WEF went into great detail to debunk (Coastal BTW also had 2 games at home the last week, so I would've bought the CCU favoritism angle had that argument been made)

BSK when confronted has yet to backup anything..

It has been long thought that the league has a Coastal Bias though. I did note the fact that when Liberty won the tournament last year, the fans were not allowed to storm the court in celebration. Yesterday Coastal and Winthrop's women were on the floor en mass.

Kyle has long taken us for granted and has always given Coastal favoritism. Under present circumstances, I can understand why he would begin to give HPU & WU a little love considering they are the other schools that might be reasonably attractive to other leagues beyond LU & CCU. The teal worship by the league office has always been a source of annoyance for me. I half expect to see Kyle's face when the Chants mascot lifts the head off his costume. But that's just me.

That Friday game was due to ESPNU. It was a flex game which the league/ESPNU decided which of the games would be featured on TV for that night (though GWU/UNCA wasn't an option since they were already an ESPN3 game for Saturday...so that was probably the best choice of the weekend games, but was off the table for ESPNU to choose), and was chosen about 3 weeks before the game was played. Campbell had just started playing poorly when that game was chosen, but ended up pretty much losing the rest of their contests to that point, so it ended up not being the best match-up on paper by the time the game came around...but when it was chosen, it seemed reasonable given the other options (WU/PC, LU/RU, and CSU/CCU)..so somebody was going to play on Friday. It just ended up being HPU and Campbell.

I get my facts from people in and around the Big South. It's not my fault that you & PH have a hard time believing me.

Look every conference needs to promote their strong schools in their strong sports. KK knows LU is leaving ASAP, why promote them? He also knows that CCU is in the discussions to exit as well, therefore he awarded them to host tournament for 3 years to persuade them from leaving. So that leaves the women schools like HP, WU, RU, or UNCA.

He was embarrassed how UNCA had tournament issues with SoCon a couple years ago, therefore not real happy with Janet Cone.

Winthrop isn't going where and they are living under Gregg Marshall long casting shadow.

The leaves HPU, campus is awesome, the school is centrally located, the president is pumping big $$$, they aren't leaving the league. So why not push them to the forefront???

No different than the ACC pushing, UNC, Duke in hoops or FSU for football.

Think like a marketer and not like a geek behind a computer pulling for your sorry team.

Considering the vast majority of your 'facts' have been disproved, you might want to rethink your sources.

Actually it is to a degree. What you have purported to be facts has been largely disproven by other posters and led you to going into spin control aka backpedaling.I say again, until High Point starts making some run in the postseason, all the marketing in the world isnt gonna amount to a hill of beans if they cant even get out of their own way in crunch time

Seriously need to consider new sources.. when you get challenged on a point you hide for a few days and/or fail to respond so perhaps some more independent ideas would be helpful to your 'facts'..
Bigsouthking wrote: Think like a marketer and not like a geek behind a computer pulling for your sorry team.
So you want the conference to market a program that has never won a title over the other successful programs? That a tough sell for any marketing guru.. Even the HP prez has refused to put money into basketball facilities at HP until they win.. and he's put $$ into everything else.. that in and of itself should tell you something.

i never said they could hand High Point the tournament, but they could do everything within resasonable power to help them.... its not the Big South fault Cherry has 1 tournament win in 5 years.

HP doesnt need a new facility its the perfect size. They just bought a street in High Point to develop their Pharmacy school.
