Here is my question. In the years that the RD debate on this board has raged, has one person changed their mind? If not, this conversation meets the definition of insanity.

All of you who hate Layer need to give me a good explanation why we came in 2nd last year.

He doesn't have to know who he wants. That's the dumbest response to an argument you can have.

Have you ever been dumped by a girl? Of course you have. We all have. She dumped you cause she didn't want to be with you. She didn't dump you because there was another guy that she wanted. That other guy's name just had to be "not you."

With that being said, I like Coach Layer a lot and want him to be around for a while. I was just pointing out Beej's ridiculous comment.

Beejay Bashing , and getting dumped metaphor, in one post. Classic.

Randy brought in good talent. His teams generally played hard, and on occassion won. The reason I didnt prefer him as a coach, was the Circus Show he put on during games. Crybaby + :furious + :blahblah

Aren't you so cute and nieve.
Aren't you so old and bitter.
I believe the nail got hit on the head here. Anybody around in the 90's knows who was winning the recruiting battles and was responsible for opening the Nigerian connection. JM didn't do in his time what RD did.

I still contend that if RD was allowed to coach BJ (Sweet 16), Smith, TeeJay(ACC), Brew (Big East), Alex and Rell we would have a real banner in the Vines and LU would have had a strong community support.

Theres also a good chance that those guys wouldnt have stayed had Dunton been the coach. Its not like he didnt have some defects on his teams, and I can tell you they didnt leave cause they thought they were too good (Gordon, Curry) but because Coach D was a very hard person to like and play for

Didn't JM bring LU from an NCCAA team to an NCAA Div 1 team with an NCAA bid? That's pretty impressive and nothing to sneeze at. Although according to some, RD is the career leaders in steals as a head coach with 1 against Norfolk State! :D
And what exactly is a 'real banner'?
