And where were we 2 years after the NCAA tournament? I think you would call that shambles.

Actually, the program was a mess when JB was hired. It's now a NCAA compliant mess. Give credit where it's due!

Going home now, but believe we were 7-2 last 9 regular season games when JB came, were 2 possessions away from being 9-0 in that frame, and Chris Lang said we would contend for the BS the next year (although he has reminded me that this meant with Brewington on board)
Not correct to say the program was a mess when JB came, and there were no compliance issues that I know of.

Exactly. Those who wish to be anti RD will lie to cast some mystic cloud. What we have was a hijack of both bballs. Ask Scar, Naz and Hildebrand about RD. Get some insde info not the politics of PH or athletic administration with an agenda.

needless to say JB has had time and $$$. No championships, no pride, no attendance. 0-10 in last 10 BSC games, players with cocaine felony convictions reinstated and we have to debate on the status of these adminstrative decisions. Not in a competitive world....oh but some would rather have Disney World on Liberty Mountain, enjoy the slide.

And that's a key phrase.

ToC - you do not know who I am, but you lose all credibility, or at least what little you have, when you lump me in with administration and a kool aid drinker. You also apparently think JBis our MBB coach. He isn't 0-10 in our last 10 BSC basketball games. Therefore you should focus your wrath on DL since he is heading up the program. Or seek professional medical help.

Were there compliance issues that you know of? I know there were some disagreements between RD & the Liberty Admin, but I don't believe he was ever cited with a compliance violation with the NCAA.

All i know is every year except when RD dismissed two players we were in contention for the league title (even that year he beat Winthrop) and he continued to build. Community was involved...we were building a program firmly from what Mel left in shambles. The staff was top shelf and he was working the Nigerian pipeline. Sure he lost two first round games that we would have like to won...both in the last minute and both teams advance to Championship. He deserved another contract.

Meanwhile some will dismiss JB from accountabilty in his athletic department. Rather Asa, NO FCS playoffs or mbb slide. But he has his job still and let's see if he can build winners beyond what he inherited with all the $$$ invested to his leadership.

I'd be extremely interested in knowing what they were, as I am quite sure he has told me that he never had one. (I'll check with him today).

Perhaps you are in the athletic department & are not free to say, but, then again, I would think it would be a matter of public record.

Don't know the situation on the scholarship @ end of tenure. He was at LU for 14 years, I believe,
and there were no violations under his watch as I know it, but I'm interested as well. Again, should be a matter of record.

Among other teams in the state to be punished Tuesday was the Liberty men's basketball team, which lost two scholarships for its performance in this year's APR and also received a public warning. The school already stripped itself of one scholarship for the 2007-08 season in anticipation of the penalty, and will also be down a grant next season.
It's not like he was cheating but the team had not been performing academically for a few years to get that penalty.

Yes it actually is a violation. Losing 3 scholarships is nothing to sneeze at. It says nothing about his character. It says nothing about his sideline coaching. Not sure why you think any one feels that it does.
