A new scoreboard like that should be worth 4-5 wins per year at least. Of course you need to spread some of that over to the ladies team as well.

Walked around there this evening as they were testing it - great graphics/optics/video. Was watching the Journey concert and LU PRAISE BAND. It's definitely cool!

So the flames logo will be the final memory of those on the court that this thing crush's! Love it! Haha, seriously though you couldnt have paid me to stand under that thing while they were putting it up...I would even propose a "safe zone" to be marked on the court so if the safe word is screamed by anyone you run to the safe zone and live.

the scoreboard was up and fully functional for convo this morning. it looked extremely bright and vibrant for announcements, and then slightly more dull once the video feed of convo started. which makes me think the scoreboard is nicer than our video cameras. its also is hanging below the top of the arena, meaning if your on the outside concourse or near the top of the seats, your actually looking down at the scoreboard.

well it can adjust up or down. But I think it will only go up for volleyball games.

Interesting about the video feed though. If you think about it, the Liberty Channel still doesn't broadcast a digital signal I believe, and therefore would still be SD. So we can presume that all of their equipment is SD as well, where as graphics and everything else are computer generated. Just my guess though.

I was going to say, wouldnt that be the responsibility of the folks at the Liberty Channel not the AD since technically FTN is under that umbrella...(and yes I sensed the sarcasm in his comment)

Just saw the new scoreboard in operation and without quedtion it is awesome.

THAT SAID

It is supposed to be a scoreboard not an almost full time billboard. The first half of the woman's game it was bang bang bang ..one ad after another no mercy!!!!! Ad locations can be controlled. When they take over the bottom ring you have to squint/search to see the score on the big screen...When the score etc. are on the bottom ring it is great. Even when the stats are on the bottom ring the ads are always on the corners of the big screen - which is acceptable. The ads are also insync with the screen going across the officials table making it even worse when the bombardment takes place.
The second half of the game was more reasonable.
I fully understand the importance of sponsors.
Does management and sponsors understand what happens when you get turned off ?
I hope this is just growing pains. It's nice to see the increase in sponsors. Now lets get some quality in the quantity.

The Liberty Channel on 43.1 is HD ready, there's just no HD programming on it... yet.

Having said that, since they reduced the power, nobody can get it over the air anymore, granted where I live I got lucky to get it when it was at 15kw.

Edit: I went to fcc.gov and saw they're in the process of restoring full power.

SO HAPPY!! The controller people did an excellent job with the scoreboard last night.
The sponsors and the fans can both be happy.
The scoreboard is a huge improvement. Please keep the end zone STAT ones.


The rest room upgrades are also very nice.

Also how many times have people walked into the bathrooms only to see someone peeing in the sink?? I think I saw it 3 or 4 different times in my 5 years spent in Lynchburg. Good times, haha

Do you think they threw away the old screens? I'm willing to dumpster dive if this is a possibility...Imagine having church movie night with one of those huge screens.
