If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

Sounds like a good punishment to me for being a low seed. No need for them to get an easy road.

Actually if you're seeded 2-6- you're looking at being on the road all week.. You have to hope that the top seed gets knocked out in order to host anything..

Only the top seed, the 7th seed, and the 8th seeds get home games.

From what I hear this is the format that the coaches and AD's pushed for..

It's a good reward for the top seed, and gives the tournament somewhat of a tourney feel with having 6 games in 1 location in a two-day period.

I like the one site format. Just hope CSU or CCU don't host.

FWIW, I saw Sporting News College Hoops on the newsstand....they have UNCA #1, LU #2, and G-W at #6 in the BSC.

That of course was printed/written before news of the John Brown injury. That knocks the Flames down several notches. Picking Nos. 3-10 in the conference was a bear. So little to separate the teams. Radford at 11 is pretty secure.

Also, a mea culpa on my part: I was under the impression that Peele's contract was up at Winthrop after this season. It is not. He told me he was extended a year after the second NCAA trip, so he has two more years left on the deal. So my apologies for that.

Winthrop basketball players arrested after McDonald's fight
By Shannon Greene and Darin Gantt - The Herald

ROCK HILL -- Police used their stun guns to break up a fight involving two Winthrop University basketball players at a McDonald's in Rock Hill, according to reports.

Winthrop senior Reggie Middleton, 21, and redshirt junior Gideon Gamble, 21, were charged with disorderly conduct around 2:45 a.m. Friday after a fist fight inside McDonald's, according to a Rock Hill police report. The restaurant is across the street from Winthrop on Cherry Road.
Police tried to break up the fight but couldn't separate the suspects because of the crowd and noise, the report states.
