The part about saying no over and over for 2 days is almost laughable. Makes it sound like Bennett locked him in a room and deprogramed him from the cult of LU. All he had to do if he really loved it here like he said he did is say no ONCE, and ask his friend to respect his decision and not ask again. Didn't happen. I sort of buy the part about not wanting/needing to be in charge. Now he can make as much or more money with less stress. Hopefully we will find a new coach who thrives on the challenge of leadership.
The idea of working with a good friend and fellow christian is a coin with 2 sides. He had that for 15 years with Brad Soucie. It could work out well for Brad if he gets the head coaching job here, but I think we all know that is a long shot.
Some of you guys sound like the biggest cry babies, AND I'm AN EAGLES FAN for crying out loud. Get over it! Yes we got screwed, yes Mckay left at the worst time possible, and yes he could have assisted here if he didn't want to be a head coach, but lets move on.
Lets get someone here who isn't all talk and wants to establish a program at a University that brings big crowds. We have the support from the students and community, which is all we need. God has big plans for Liberty. Shoot , when my coach went to school here this place was nothing.

The last thing I will say...
...think back about the perception of the program two years ago at this time?
Now think about the perception of the program two days ago.
JB did his job with a great hire that turned a program that was perceived by some as a program out of control, into one that is supported on campus by faculty and students alike.
Supa - I dont believe most of what he is saying about his reasons for leaving
Momof3tn - "whatever"
I am not sure what happened after that, but it couldnt have been good[/quote]
I don't wanna go down this road, but I want to make something VERY SIMPLE. I will not put up with a personal attack. Call me a girl, I don't give a rip, but let's make ONE THING CRYSTAL CLEAR!! I treat people with respect and I expect the same amount of respect. I WILL NOT put up with that crap. GOT IT! GOOD!
I am a proud alumnus of this school who is proud of the legacy and heritage we are building here. Liberty University and the athletic department are having a great impact in the Lynchburg community and the Mid-Atlantic region. I considered my time here to be a privilage and would like to be able to continue to give back to the University. I understand that some may not be happy with how all of this went down. But that in NO WAY is an excuse for that kind of behavior.
So now the opinions of people that don't believe things aren't being allowed in that thread? That's crap. There were no personal attacks. We don't edit things because we disagree. If they have basis, we let it go. You're making the rules as you go because you like the guy. Take the high road all you want but don't act like 90% of the people on this campus, players, coaches, and administrators included, are completely p/issed at this guy who turned his back on us after preaching to us for two years.

I hope no one gets this the wrong way, but all posters should be treated some level of respect. Whether someone post 6000 times or 1 time, it is to be taken as it is; a thought or maybe a fact. I heard about rmk yesterday morning but i did not want to be run off the board, so i waited 4 someone else to do it. I feelbad for the fans, but i knew mckay was a snake and told u what u wanted to hear all along. May the next coach bring some integrity when he shows up on campus.
here's what you said:
WWJFD wrote:Those quotes scare the bijeezie out of me. From what I hear, McKay was not even going to be considered for an interview becasue of compliance issues at OSU. After all he was interviewed and guess he talked his way to being one of the front runners. Now LU is making sure his compliance and overall performance duties at UNM were better than OSU.
My opinion is he is a smooth talker and can talk his way into any job. You can talk the talk, but I don't think he can "W"alk the "W"alk (W=Wins). I think he will bring any player in or tip toe around to make himself look better on paper in W's. He is not the guy who brought in the high character players into NM. Be careful what you ask for: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/b ... nal01.html
how prophetic.
Wow....I even amaze myself from time to time. Not a bad call if I do say so....

Man's never even met me. Good night and thanks for the time.
Long day today. I come home, flip on the computer, make a post about a diaper (courtyard), head to dinner, baby to bed, turn the computer back on, check the bball forum, and WHAM!!!! What the heck is going on here? I didn't have time to read all 14 pages, but for crying out loud, my list of "people who have really disappointed me in life" about doubled in the past week. Betrayal is not a good enough word for this one.

Nobody on this board has any place to judge why Coach McKay has chosen this path. Who are we to judge what God may have called Coach McKay to do? One thing I know about Coach is that he is one of the most sincere men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Things happen, things come up and things change. God can change the direction of any person on this board in a split second. To call the man a liar and fraud is not only wrong but completely out of line. Accusations of him doing it for the money are also absurd. If you knew him personally you would know this. Coach McKay's relationship with God and desire to do his will comes long before anything else in his life. Yes, its unfortunate. He's a great coach and has clearly changed the program at Liberty. He has a passion for the game which is evident but nothing comes before God and his family. You can deny that all you want but those of you on this boards with some kind of rational thinking understand what I'm talking about.

Yep the God card has always been a good way out. Not saying hes lying, but let's not be completly naive about this one.

Yeah, God changed his calling when Seth Curry decided to leave. Before that, his calling was to be here.

You are absolutely right. And from looking at his history, God calls him ALOT.

Wonder if he calls Him back? Or is He with Chris Lang on the "other" list

Apparently he talked to Sly, so we know what list he's on

I'm glad you consider a relationship with God a "card" to be played. The only thing that is naive is judging a man's decision when you know almost nothing about the situation and have no personal relationship with that person you are talking about.
I know you've been through a lot in your life, but this shouldn't happen. (Not even to an homely girl like you.) It's okay if you want to take a few days to cry it out. It's normal. I can't say that I have any great wisdom to offer, but in times like this I usually turn to music to soothe my pain. So, put on the best breakup songs you can find, shed a few tears and burn some letters if you need to. Take the weekend to get over it. Come Monday, I'll expect to see you all dolled up and out looking for a new guy. Keep it classy and let's try to prevent a typical rebound relationship, okay? You've got plenty to offer, even if you aren't the most attractive thing in the world. Work what you've got and you'll find your next beau soon enough.
Oh, one more thing. If nothing else, please know this: You're better off without him. That much is for certain.
With all my love,
El Scorcho
P.S.
If you happen to see "him" out somewhere, please tell him I said <a href="
