The key to this season is Tyler Baker (I know I've opened the floodgates), but if we're going to have any post-season success it's going to be because Baker is healthy and is producing.

If he can stretch the defense and allow for our slashers to get in the lane and cause some trouble...we are a dangerous team.

1. Seth Curry
2. Kyle Ohman
3. Brolin Floyd
4. Tyler Baker
5. Anthony Smith

But I hope it ends up something more like this...

1. Seth Curry
2. Jeremy Anderson
3. Smitty or Brolin Floyd
4. Smitty or Tyler Baker
5. Austin Smith or Carter McMasters
if you believe what you were told then you must be smoking some good stuff.
And our coaches would have to be smoking the same stuff to have decided on any kind of a starting lineup before the first practice, especially with so many new players in the program.

You mean like saying that Seth Curry is going to start and get 30-35 min a game before he stepped on campus just because? Kinda like that?

Bottom line in this whole scenario no one will be right. He WILL play Smitty at the 5 but with the offense that we run you would be able to say hes not playing the 5 due tot he fact that the big man will be playing on Baker and he will be outside and inside as well. So I can say, Smitty started the 5 and manson can say, No Baker did. At the end of the day we really wont know because it wont be listed on the box score and we dont announce it during starting lineups and with our situational rotations you will never be able to tell who is playing what position. Its nice against a team we match up well with because if smith posts and baker shoots they tick themselves, but we will see how it works for us. What has already been said the starting lineup will be is Curry, Ohman, Brolin, Baker, Anthony in that order. No I dont have a website or a sound bite but it isnt changing unless someone gets hurt or someone shows up and starts busting someone in practice. Sorry guys, I just had to stop the maddness because even at the end of the season all you will be able to say is that Smith played a post position just like Ohman did last year but you never could tell. All we knew is that TeeJay played the 1 Bottom line.

Baker F
Smith G or F

you think that would be something McKay would not want to do? I love him and I think he is a good coach, but he didn't recruit any good big guys who play down low. Coach has already shown us he likes to play small line ups. Why wouldnt he start Smitty at the 5? Who else is going to play there besides Austin Smith? Carter is probably not going to be big enough (not height wise obviously) to play the 5.
It's not going to happen. Say what you want, but it's not.

then what were you saying?

And in the Big South, with the way we run, There is a chance to succeed with it, its just tough

Never once have I said anything like Carter was going to be a beast.
TB and Carter will get most of the time at 4.
He’s not going to be our first option at the 4. You take your best player and plug in guys around him. Smitty will play the 3, sure he could get some time at the 4 but TB and Carter will be the primary guys getting time there.
That’s what I’m saying. Sure he may play some post, but he’s not going to be the first option there.

I just think it's messed up when a kid's not given his fair shake of things before he even steps on the court.

I think its messed up that you question me (and others)for saying things when we have seen him, but you know what shhhhhhh happens.

And he gets a fair shake, if you think he should start then call McKay

And at the same time it's messed up when a kid's hyped through the roof before he even steps on the court like you have done.

The positions listed on the starting lineup have always been what the player was listed as on the team roster. If we were to start the small lineup TBGBG says we will, it would be 4 guards and a forward. Carter is the only player listed as a center on our roster.

I don't know what sources are being trusted to say that the starting lineup has been decided already, but I'm sure it didn't come from our coaching staff. We know that Smitty is going to start, and I don't doubt that promises were made to Curry, which is nothing unusual in college basketball recruiting. Beyond that I highly doubt any decisions have been made. What would they be based on, watching pickup games they aren't supposed to be at secretly through a hole in a wall? Even with an experienced team, decisions on who will start and play often aren't made until well into the pre-conference schedule.

I'm not saying he should start, that's McKay's decision. I do question you and RF because you both were told BEFORE you had seen him that made you question his determination, work ethic, etc. Therefore, he hasn't gotten a fair shake from the fan base because people will believe you and others. I'm reserving my judgement on Carter and all the freshman until they get on the court, and until then I hope for the best.

Stars mean nothing. Genes mean next to nothing. What matter is how he performs on the floor. And who has seen him on the floor?

I think you need to take a step back and look at this instead of being blinded by :star :star :star . People have seen him playing with collegiate athletes, and don't think that, AT THIS POINT, he is dominant or anything like that. So relax on the defending of a guy you've never seen before. Listen to people who've been there, and wait and see if you can prove them wrong... but at this point, you don't have anything but stars and hopes.

I agree. None of us have seen them on the floor. Sure some have seen them playing pick-up. Who cares? That's pick-up.

I'm not blinded by stars or family genes, I could care less if I prove anyone wrong. I take the information that has been posted and pm'ed for what it's worth based on the messenger, and the 2 main people who have posted negative comments about him looked at him negatively before they had seen him play based on what people had told them.
