It seems to me if the issue was really hair he never would have come.

External things like that can be an indicator at times, but I wouldn't put too much stock in them. What is more revealing is his statement. If someone defines who they are as a person by the relatively few and insignifcant things that are not allowed at LU, then they need to be somewhere else. A lot of LU students don't hold all of the rules as personal beliefs, but are willing to follow them and express their individuality in other ways.

That happens to a lot of kids who don't know all of the rules before they get here, and in BJ's case, I don't blame him.

i still will never understand how people come here not knowing what most of the rules are. That is one of the first things I looked at since I knew this was a Christian school and there were probably rules. I know that when they are trying to get students here they avoid talking about it, but its not that hard to find them....I just have never understood that...you are going to college here for four years of your life, shouldn't you look at all aspects of the school??

obviously the direction of the program and last year's play with two VASID second teamers was frustrating him. Now let's demonize the kid like we have others in the past to rationalize a big blow to our program. Losing experienced talent is never easily replaced.

They just dont look man...I remember when I moved in with my roommate that played baseball...he already signed (3 years ago) and we were talking about the rules...his mouth dropped and said what? I cant drink??? I thought he was kidding...but no...he really had no idea...liberty ended up changing his life but still that proves first hand that these kids just want a chance to play DI ball and it really doesnt matter where or how it relates to their personality.

I guess...but wow, its a Christian college...Liberty isn't shy about talking about that. I would think it would be common sense to look into it more...and even if you don't, if you can't survive the rules here at Liberty, which aren't that bad its just sad. I know Liberty isn't for everybody, but to not know the rules before you get here baffles me...I know it happens quite often. I have seen it happen. I have seen people transfer out after a couple of weeks. I have heard grown "men" in near tears on the phone with their moms because they can't handle the rules....its just confuses me...

anyways, its just always been one of those things that makes me scratch my head

No one is demonizing BJ or saying this isn't a blow. It is what it is. BJ would've started this year and been a major contributor. However, a kid has to do what is best for him and in BJ's case, that's leaving Liberty. I wish him nothing but the best.

Some things are a matter of not knowing, and others are a matter of being told different. When you're told convo is just something that happens occasionally and that you don't have to go to it, then you get here and it's three times a week and you're required to go every time you might be a little surprised. Or when you're told you won't have to cut your hair (something that is a big deal to a lot of kids) and then you get here and keep getting reps over and over for your hair and are forced to cut it, you might be a little surprised. Those are just two things off the top of my head.

Liberty isn't for everyone, and we can't expect it to be.

Well said. He may have known there were rules, but he was not aware they would be for him too.

If it had something to do with the rules dont you think he would have left before?

But hey, Whatever to take the focus off something that a coach might have done to keep him from wanting to be here, or anyone else for that matter....

The rules have not changed...I am betting the enforcing of the rules has changed

Or they may have been enforced before, but the penalties carry a bigger fine now.

Sounds like Super is making an RD reference.

Maybe BJ will invest in some hair extensions. :?

Why did you have to bring that name into this? There's a reason people are being vague. We don't want another frickin argument about him.

So no use in sitting on a scholarship next year. Justin Holland will be here finishing up his degree. If we can't sign anybody decent this late, might as well see if he still wants to play.

Bottom line, BJ wasn't going to see much PT with the new golden boy in the fold. The story all year long is gonna be "Curry, Curry, Curry" -- not BJ.
