Let's go a little further back. Gary Yoder best recruit ever!

Gary Yoder, what the heck! I remember him as the crowd favorite and everyone yelled "Opie" when he came in the game. I guess the name referenced a TV show or something. Didn't play much and was comical at times.

Gary was one crazy dude of Amish descent. His senior season he started and was best remembered for his uncanny flopping ability. Beyond that his game was VERY limited.

That team, with Greg McCauley leading the way, may have had more "heart" than any LU squad I can recall. Due to academic and disciplinary suspensions they really only had 4 or 5 scholarship players. Walk-on Yoder, who was 6'4 and had a terminal case of "white man's disease", played the post. They played zone defenses (unheard of for a Meyer team) to cut back on foul trouble, and had more than 1 overtime game in which virtually the entire starting 5 went all the way.

Cider Jim wrote:HMO, can an old man like Rob Jackson beat you in racquetball? I understand in his day, he was quite the racquetball player.

Rob's still a pretty impressive rball player. He won regionals last year and went on to play in nationals. I think he lost in the quarterfinals....You can find him and Charles Billingsley most days at the downtown Y-and to answer the question, HMO has a hard time keeping up
