They're watching!!! :welcome
Coach and Alex weren't too happy with this coming out. Alex even asked me tonight how it got out and all of that because they had no clue how it leaked. Alex never intended on having surgery. His plan all along was to play through whatever pain he might have had. He played well tonight too. He'll probably get it worked on after the season but for now, he's going to keep playing.

I feel bad that we upset coach. Although I think this probably shows you there's some truth to it. Who was the goober who leaked that to WWJFD? That person should certainly keep his mouth shut.

I dont know how upset coach really could be about this...I mean he is coming from a program that not only starts rumors but also throw in a few death threats too!

And I agree LUconn...their reaction does show there is truth to it...I would have just laughed it off personally and keep everyone guessing

So WWJFD, if you are not a McKay lover, how do we know you didn't plant this as a false report just to get everyone going?

I doubt this upset coach.....i mean really, if an "injury rumor" gets you heated, you got some pretty thin skin.

i think the mckay lovers crack was not needed, but WWJFD did ask insiders to confirm.

I took it as the fact that he was upset that we knew about it. That would upset me too.

WWJFD should know better than to bring undocumented "breaking news" to this forum. :liar :nono

Look WWJFD started this with the original thread title that appeared to be a statment of fact. If I'm coach I'm upset too trying to find out where it came from.

I need to re-track on some comments...

The McKay lovers comment was not necessarily..I was a little upset at a couple of the threads. I am sorry for that.

When information was passed from one person to another and then to another, then to me....the way I heard it was how I heard it. I never heard any mention of playing through it, second opinions, any of that. I felt confident that what I heard sounded factual, but again, I did not hear it to be "rumored". That is why I asked for Sherlock Holmes, and all of the FF detectives to see if this was happening. I do not work for the staff or write for a paper, just a fan of the program.

If I knew that this was going to lead to this, then in the future, I will only post to support what someone else finds out. I did not mean to upset the coach or jerry or anyone.....If Coach was so upset, then I would have to guess there was an injury, but not serious. Not citing the orginal source and how it reached me, I just wonder what the source's credibility really is, which puzzles me.

I just thought this was an interesting development and it was not on the board yet. I am glad Alex will play.

I will take my slap on the hand punishment and move forward. No reason to keep adding to this thread..case closed.

Huh?

If he has the knee scoped today and is out for 4 weeks it will have been accurate.

Does anyone honestly think they have changed the plans for Alex's medical treatment because of something posted here?

I didn't think RMc sounded upset in the postgame. It was just like "I don't know where that came from, but it wasn't accurate."

More than likely it was something which was discussed and rejected/postponed and someone overheard part of a conversation and jumped to a conclusion. If they don't even know what is causing the pain, all they can do is an exploratory scope. Once they get in there, if they see something they can fix, they go ahead and fix it. If not, the exploratory itself is so non-intrusive the athlete usually misses almost no time.

I appreciate your insight WWJFD, you did nothing wrong. This was the first time I have heard McKay in a postgame interview and he just came off upset to me. Maybe more annoyed by the fact that this info was leaked than really upset. Then again he may not have been, it may just be his personality. I have yet to hear him speak a whole lot, so I can't read into his tone of voice with 100% accuracy.

See I didn't take it as upset. I took it as surprised, shocked, and confused.

I think McKay is probably more upset that a kid's private medical information was leaked to the general public. He may be a member of our team but medical privacy laws still apply.
Also, I can only assume that no one on this board is gambling on our games but I would imagine that the NCAA would be none too happy about a player's injury status leaking either.

That may very well be the case, I don't know. When I first heard it, I thought he sounded upset. I could be wrong.

From a legal standpoint, how much information may be given out about the medical condition or treatment of any adult is entirely up to them (in this case Alex). HIPPA regulations would apply unless he signed an "Authorization for Release of Protected Health Information", which I believe is generally done prior to anything about an injury going to the press.

As far as gambling is concerned, it should't be a factor one way or another as to whether the information is given out. It would be more "unethical", and affect the results of any bets on a game more, to withhold information about an injury than to give it out. If a key player is injured, and it is kept a "secret", the betting line will be innacurate, and someone with inside information could potentially benefit. This is one reason why this information is usually made public (with the consent of the athlete of course.)
