Vegas,

I remember the Aluma dunk very well. It was against UNC Greensboro a couple of weeks before the tournament final that we lost to them. We beat them by 20 because Aluma and White were playing like pros that night. White threw the pass and Aluma threw the hammer...That high jumper was James Wilson. His brother was Mike Wilson and his sister was Michelle. James dunked during a dunk contest at half time of the Mt St Mary's game that we won. I still have the tape. The crowd was so fired up when we came out of the locker room and we thought it was for us til we realized James and the others had put on an amazing show. Richard Shelton who later played for the Steelers with Eric Green, got Eric to throw him an alley oop that very few people in the gym could have gone and get but Richard went and got it!

BTW James Wilson was not a great basketball player but he sure could jump. He played on my semi pro team in DC a few years later. He dunked on my nephew Jon (who is only a few years younger than me) so hard that Jon was swinging from his left arm while James was holding the rim with his right arm (Arm not hand, al la Vince Carter). They were both in the air for a few seconds while James was looking at him as if to say, why did you jump man?... Little trivia. James dated my niece and I dated his sister. We could have been family 8)

Scar, I remember Richard Shelton, too, and even had him in class. Very polite guy and very soft spoken in class. I think he told me he broke both arms in high school, so that's why he ended up at a D1-AA school like Liberty, and, yes, he did play briefly for the Steelers, I think as a cornerback, but I never knew he could dunk, because it seems like he was less than 6 feet tall.

Cider, I left that part out. I forgot to say that Shelton was about 5-9 on a good day. 40 plus inch verticle jump. He and Donald Smith were the best overall athletes on the football team IMO along with Charles McCray.

I don't know all the history... how many have sipped from the Tull Cup?

Spring cleaning... actually, it is a crazy time of year getting a staff in place for the Fall... that, and fighting crime, protecting orphans and such.

REAL TALK THE BEST DUNKS CAME DURING INTRAMURALS MOST YEARS..Tracy McGrady had a cousin go to LU in 2000 and the coaching staff never gave him a shot..but during pick up games he torched the LU team guys even if he had 4 blindmen on his team...As far as team dunkers some of the nastiest I remember was Marcus White PG...but Gabe Martin was probaly the best overall..

Aluma had nasty dunks, his nastiest was probably against VCU or James Madison, also Jason Dixon had some nice slams over his career, The best in practice dunker before he got hurt was Jay Boykin off the one leg, and Darnell "sleepy" Williams, Scar know who I am talking about. Darryl Williams was nasty also and Kevin Benton. Marcus White had some great alley oop catches in games especially against TCU. GOAT had a sick dunk against Charleston Southern off the one leg that suprised everyone.

I am pleased to see that Jody Chapman's dunk was the first mentioned. I would tell him, but I wouldn't want his head to swell. :D That was a pretty awesome thing, and it did mean a lot to him. The dunk in the Championship game was special too. Glad I was around for both.

I am stunned to have read this whole thread and to never have seen JUICE mentioned once. #00, before Aluma, Julius Nwosu! I cannot narrow it down to a specific game or team we were against, but his slams were really sweeeet!! Gotta give the old timer (I should not say that, he is only 4 months older than me) his just mention!!

If you come over I will show you. The tape is still cued up
Scar, you've got to get that dunk on VHS transferred over to DVD and maybe even put on UTube for the whole world to see!

Jim that might be a while now since I just sealed the box up to be put in storage for a while. We are moving out of Stately Scarborough Manor on Saturday. Feel free to come over and move something into the POD. I do have the poster of the dunk out on display or at least sitting on top of some boxes to be put in storage too. I actually posted a photo of the poster on Facebook on the Flamefans group but you can't really see it that well. Tracey, you are right about Juice! He had so many thunderous dunks that it is hard to remember any specific ones....Someday Jim, I will get that thing on YouTube though.

I have a picture that Julius autographed and it is of a game in the Vines Center, but I cannot make out who the opposing team is. I think I bought the photo (8x10, black and white) from a yearbook clearout.

And as I traveled down memory lane and was going through my scrapbook, I realized Michael Coleman was also not mentioned. Though I only got to see him play for a year, he was pretty great also.

Just making sure those guys get their due mention. Gotta represent the old timers! :D
