All I am trying to address is the fact that LU only spends money on athletics and new building projects......

The Prototype branding guide is more than just specific coloring but that's beside the point. Putting the wrong color on the jersey probably didn't get him fired but refusing to put the right one on probably didn't help his cause.

LU has spent more money than I care to know on classroom space in the last 15 years. Every classroom on campus has been renovated in the past 5 years. Every classroom on campus is now a "smart" classroom. A ton of money has been spent on converting the Ericsson property into even more classroom space. There's now a law school and an aviation school.

I'm also kind of confused by your objection to spending money on new projects. Should we spend it on projects that are already complete? In addition, any money spent on permanent campus facilities, regardless of use, is in the long term generally beneficial to the university as a whole.

So I just deleted this, but jm replied so ill put it back

I dont think any of that has to do with the basketball budget.... I am probably off on how it all works, but unless basketball decided to somehow pave a road with their schedule on it, then that would work??? They could also just but chalk theough so maybe not

That's been addressed here multiple times. If you don't understand it by now, there's no helping you.
jmdickens wrote:How about upgrading the teachers??
I'm sure the cost of basketball uniforms would buy us a nice half a professor.
jmdickens wrote:Pave the roads??
The roads are already paved.
jmdickens wrote:How about a salary increase for student workers??
Student worker pay is dictated by Federal law, not LU.

The student workers can be payed whatever LU decides to pay them...the whole minimum wage is what determines how low that will be...

The roads need repaving

I am still lost about Demoss, except that VA is supposed to be paying to have the civil war museum put on the third floor. But, that will end because the confederate flag will hurt peoples feelings......

The whole professor thing is wrong......we have some quality underpaid professors at LU

I can't be a part of conversations like this anymore. They're not good for my health, and I don't think they're productive.

I'm out.

i think the road he is referring to is the hobbits path that goes up behind the baseball field to davids place pit. If you seriously dont think that road needs reworking, repaving, re-everything, than you are mistaken

Where to begin?

First, LU doesn't have an International Studies program in the History department so I would guess that, yes, it receives no money.

Second, as has been discussed here ad infinitum, plans to finish DeMoss were put on hold when the Ericsson property literally fell into our laps. Currently, finishing the DeMoss is unnecessary.

Third, LU is a better school academically now than it has ever been. Maybe you're just too smart, Dick.

Fourth, which road would you like to see paved that isn't currently paved? The only people on campus who have a legitimate complaint about paving are those people who are required to park at David's Place which, at last check, would be no one. If you're complaining about the conditions of certain roads (ie., Stadium Road past the baseball field), I would suggest you also complain about wind, rain and gravity which combine to force that road to be re-paved at least once every two to three years. Which it is.

Fifth, as for increasing the wages of student workers, why? Those students knew what they were going to get paid when they took the job. If they decide they don't like it, they are welcome to go wait tables at any of the fine eating establishments that line Wards Road or push carts at Sam's Club or just take up selling crack if they think it will pay better. Incidentally, for the most part, worker wages are a departmental decision. If the department hasn't planned to up anyone's paycheck, that's hardly the university's fault.

Personally, I think you're just having a whiny day, Dickens, but that happens around this time of year. Maybe your blood sugar's low.

what about bball uniforms?

i think when you have a variety of uniforms like oregon does, that just benifits you in recruiting. if we get 5 uniforms instead of 2, that can help a little. remember, Frank Beamer said that he went with those one colored sleave jerseys (lol) because the recruits liked them. if the players like them and it makes good players want to come, then do it.

Ya if we can get the next MJ to come to Liberty and have a chance at a National Championship, I could care less what color the uniforms all! If were winning, I dont care if were wearing pink jerseys with light yellow poka* dots.

Has it occured to you guys that the jerseys may be free or at an extreme discount? Ritchie McKay is really, really close to a guy at Nike. Also there is a set amount of budget money that they can spend the way they want. If they choose to buy 6 different jersey's then so be it as long as they don't go over it. Next, the jerseys were in fact designed by assistant coach Zach Jones and they are in compliance with the school colors and standards. The warmups are a really dark navy blue and appear to be black from a distance but that was not an attempt to be different. The material used for the warm ups came out darker than the jerseys. Hope that helps clear up some of the mis-information.
