At the Flames Club luncheon on Friday, it was mentioned that Coach McKay was flying home later that afternoon to be with his family for Easter; the paper also mentioned that he had not bought a house yet, so I don't know where he has been living for the past 2 weeks.

I have to say that my statement, typed with tongue firmly implanted in cheek, elicited a surprising response. For those who don't know, here is what I was referring to, and it is not at all scatalogical:

In the future I will endeavor to use appropriate emoticons to indicate that I am not serious.

grm wrote:Hey, maybe everything from Mckay is poop. I was just suggesting (with the slightest of humor) that we be respectful. Call it "poop" all day long if you like (not that you need my permission).
You know, after I posted, I did think of a newspaper reference or story for "poop" as in "scoop." I just checked, and my "vintage unabridged" did not include that definition (it did include "breaking wind" ... but I'll just skip over that). I have checked and accepted the synonyms you posted, and thank you for them, and now feel that it is all appropriate.

To be honest and to try to be fair, I just thought, as a confirmed Dunton Man, that I should not get on here and say something like "We just got a bunch of poop from Mckay today."

I don't have a "dog in this fight" (so to speek), but I do know that the Sportsline on WLNI (105.9) often has a guest on who is a sportswriter, and I believe he publishes an insider's look at one of the area colleges--maybe it's UVa--and the publication is called The Poop Sheet. Can our friends who work and/or volunteer at The Sportsline confirm that?

As the Producer, I can confirm that as the truth... Dave Glenn is very insightly and knows the ACC inside and out

ok- this doesn't really to fit here but I'll put it out there anyway (here's the context from page 2 and 4 of this thread):

Conditional though. If he says there's 100% chance he's going to go to WU, I doubt they would release him. It wouldn't make sense to.
Assuming the 7' Nigerian kid was NOT coming here after all (which was deemed a foregone conclusion), now that GM has left WU, does that put him back on track here- or does he start looking all over?

I'd say its a good time for RMK and company to start heating up the phone lines to Lagos or whever that was...

Speaking of McKay, he's at Thomas Road right now (I overslept, so I'm watching it on TV) and Falwell is calling him up on stage. Falwell loves that story of the kid transferring to be discipled by Richie.

Bronx Bombers COVER YOUR EYES!

(you have been warned  )

word is that Mr. Brewington has left the building. I wish him and his young family well, its definitely tough starting out.

my question is- does this really affect us, esp w/ the hot shooter coming in next fall?

Just don't thing (and not saying it was his fault) that Brew-pub materialized as the end-all/be-all we were hoping he'd be last season, and with the changes- maybe he saw greener pastures elsewhere (esp if there was a paycheck attached)

HOW DARE YOU BREAK NEWS ON HERE!!!!!!!!

ok, joking aside I completely understand Brew needing out...he has a family and he is struggling from what I hear....he has got to do what he has got to do...I was looking forward to seeing what he would bring to the table as the go to guy this upcoming season, but i guess it is not meant to be

I don't think this changes much for next season, we have some talented player on this team that only will get better with the new, much improved coaching staff that we have in place now.

anyways...it will be interesting how things turn out...I am in no way discouraged...

Funny side note...I was in the Vines Center yesterday early doing some stuff for the radio station before the concert and saw Coach McKay with his family and like half the basketball team...the guys were helping take tickets at the doors...i thought that was kind of funny....

I heard the news, but I always wait until someone else posts it first. Sounds like a no turning back situation. No matter what the program brings in for this upcoming season, to lose a talent on the floor like Brew will be hard to replace for this year.

Now there is 1 other that is leaving and 1 that is on the fence of leaving for non-basketball related issues. Again, I will let the slueths on the board make their calls to find out who else.

We've (well, I've) already said that Winters was gone. Whether it happens by him leaving on his own or being ineligible or being dismissed, he won't be here.

You are correct SJ, sorry I have been a little out of the loop on the amount of thread recently.

Can you answer the bonus question on the possible 3rd player?

I hadn't heard anything.

I know RD is calling the players a couple times a week and everyone I've come into contact with seems to like McKay.

Does RD have any legit job offers yet--either as an assistant or as a head coach somewhere?

Shorter College offered but they're a horrible D1 NAIA school.

As for NCAA jobs, I hadn't heard anything. I highly doubt it'll be anywhere in the region if he does.

Binghamton has hired a coach so I doubt that's a possibility.

Tennessee Temple Univ. needs a head BB coach, but they are another NAIA school.

Just a quick question for those more familiar with NCAA regs. Since Winters did not play this year, would he be able to play immediatly for another D1 school, or would he have to sit out again? Seems strange to me that he would be having academic problems (unless he has just stopped going to class). He was awarded best student-athelete at his HS. (Yes, I know Gen 1 is not exactly Harvard Prep).

I understand that coaches develop very real relationships with their players that go beyond just the sport, or even school, but somehow it just doesn't seem appropriate for RD to be calling these guys right now.
