I seriously doubt anyone is going to smooth talk Jeff Barber into a job. NCAA compliance issues are a serious matter, and if there is a history of that he should be off our list.
As far as criticisms from NM fans are concerned, you have to consider the source. Albequerque is one of the most liberal cities in the US; a Mecca for new-agers and a haven for gays. I think anyone on this board who is from the area would probably agree.
Being a publicly professing christian in that environment was an act of courage, and I will gaurantee you made him a good number of enemies. I'm not saying that is why he was fired, and I'm not saying he should be the coach at LU. What I am saying is that a quote from a disgrunteled fan, regardless of how strongly worded doesn't mean SQUADOOSH! The very things which may have worked against him there could work for him here.
I understand that JB has said he is looking for a coach who is a Christian rather than a Christian who is a coach. Now we could get into a real knock-down drag-out fight about the theological validity of that premise, misplaced priorities, and a lot of other stuff. I just hope that we never get to the point at LU OF ALL PLACES where being a dedicated Christian is counted AGAINST someone who is seeking employment.
