I would put my money on Cooper. I would also be surprised if Ducket was still in the mix.

I don't think Brennan is coming back to coaching....

I still think Duckett will be the man.....but who knows...I will just be glad when the announcement is made...then we can officially look forward to the future...thats so hard to do when there is nothing new to talk about...which is why its hard for me to get upset or annoyed at people that continue to look in the past

There is only really one name on that shortlist that warrents serious consideration.

I gotta hand it to JB managing to keep most of the real names off of this board, and it is in the best interest of the university to keep it that way until the appropiate time.

OK, which one is it?

I really don't see one that necessarily stands out in that group.

If you are implying that there are other candidates that are far more qualified, I hope you're right, but I'm not holding my breath.

From what I understand, the one individual on that list who is genuinely under consideration, may not be interested enough in us. We'll have to see how this thing plays out. I know of at least three others who are being considered and any of the three would appear to be a good fit.

Tom Brennan is done coaching. He is either in his late 50's or early 60's. JB is looking for a young up and coming coach, preferably a d 1 assistant or d 2 head. Still not sold on McKay, some have said he was interviewed, but not confirmed.

I still think we will land a d 1 assistant, odds are an African- American.

Just my insight

dox...I know you mean well, but please stop....you aren't going to say anything at all that is beneficial to this conversation....you just say one name on that list is legit.....but you don't say who....if you aren't going to say who on the list you "hear" is legit just don't say anything at all...

I have heard multiple times from a certain person close to me and close to the program that Duckett is one of two finalist....but I do not know the second finalist....

If you know something, but don't feel at liberty to talk about it, just don't say anything...it just causes conflict...

Back in 98 there was an uproar when RD was not initially even asked to interview for the permenant position after being interum coach for a year. He was then granted one after the fact like a dog being thrown a bone. I personally doubt if the new head man will come from the existing staff. Coach Jones getting an interview may, I repeat MAY be a PR move.

This wasnt/isnt speculation...it was simply mentioned that he will be interviewed...nobody said hired...yes the odds are stacked up against him

but there is no speculation.

There was someone else he coached that was pretty good, I forgot the name but I think it was someone other than Dudley...OK or Okie St or something like that....and I believe 40 some of his players are playing in the NCAA

HMO,

The speculation was/is by me, that Coach Jone's interview may be a PR move.
i may not know much, but I know when I'm speculating! :P

I can't think of what positive PR interviewing Zack would create. My guess is he is being given a fair opportunity like everybody else. The fact he's in our backyard and has great connections with our roster further assures he's legit.

Ohhhh I got ya! Thats actually the best speculation out there...I mean they are not going allow what happened last time ever happen again, meaning not giving the assistants a fair shot...maybe it could be like the "Rudy Rule (Sp?)" where they interview a black coach in the NFL and every now and then one will interview and the team didnt think he had a shot until he got in there and wow'd them...some are saying thats actually taken place twice in the NFL this off season

From what I understand, both Lex and Zach are highly valued and both are under consideration for the top job.

I've been away for a few days of spring break but just noticed that Sly has added Kevin Broadus from Georgetown to his list of potential candidates. Is this a new development? Does anyone know much about him or why Sly just added him?

I still hope that we go for an outside person. I just don't see him being able to handle. Does he even have anything but high school experience? Personally I don't like his son being on the team. This is just my opinion, but I think that says alot about him. It is obvious that he is not a D1 player, not to dis him, but he is taking up a roster spot.

Jones' son is not a scholarship player, so it would be meaningless as far as I'm concerned.

This isn't unusal by the way. Phil Martelli had his son in uniform when LU played SJU in the NCAA's three years ago. And from what I remember, he was kinda chubby and unathletic looking

I'm pretty sure the "roster connection" sly was talkin about was simply speaking on the recruiting and quite a few players willing to go to bat for him....not his son

And yes Dox is right...kinda...he is still on a Scolly just not a Athletic one...the same one if any of your fathers worked at LU and you attended...the official name is something like "continuing education" or something like that, I'm not positive on that one

PA, everyone has to have a dream hire so I'm sure we're taking a stab at some "dream" hires...so that's not to far off I'm sure

Not sure of the answer but I'm against it if he brings that boring style of play here. Man, what a snooze fest. That wouldn't help attendence even if we were winning.

I have no say in the matter, but I'd love to see a coach who can teach some type of press and fast break. Kind of like the Roy Williams style at Kansas and Carolina. Fast paced but not VMI-esque.

Well, a prostyle game is ideal but you have to be able to get the athletes. I think it'd be tough to run that well at a smaller school. I mean it would be effective against most of the teams we play but we'd get killed at our own game playing our money games vs the big boys.

For what it's worth, the Broadus speculation is a misnomer.

From what I've heard, the Geogetown assistant who was contacted was actually Sydney Johnson. No one is sure as the level of interest that LU has in Johnson at this time and to what capacity in terms of position. Sid is only 32 years old, however, based on his background at Princeton under Carmondy and Carril, it is widely believed that Sid will make an outstanding head coach someday. He definetly fits the mold in terms of what LU should be looking for in terms of charactor and leadership.
