Must correct one thing that bugs me about the 2004 championship perception. Birmingham was not better than Liberty that year and yes they finished with the same record. The teams did in fact split that season and Liberty was robbed down there by a homer call or 2 down the stretch just like WU was that same year. BSC was not using big south officials that season. They were decent but lets not take away from the fact that Woodson, Martin and Mantlo were playing great in conference and the 3 of them along with Blair were 4 of the top 6 players in steals in the conference that year. Leo Lightbourne and David Dees didn't even start for that team and Sneed dominated bradshaw when Craig was a freshman down at WU. Our team was really good that season and lost some tough ones early on but didn't lose much in conference play that season. WU was down too I will give you that but the BSC talk must cease.

I agree. LU basically owned those guys back then. We were 3-1 against them during BSC's hype years.

Does that also imply we were 0-4 against them in their non-hype years?
Remember...
...there are lies, danged lies, and statistics.
No. It just means that LU would have taken them that year in the tourney. BCS was hype and nothing more. BSC had a great record when they weren't eligible, but when they actually were eligible the following season, they returned the exact same team and had a very average season. Conference opponents will tend to play a team differently when a seeding or potential championship is at stake.
