Hey, if we meet WU in the championship game I'll be in Rock Hill. I'm worth at least 5 points.

Realist, Liberty didn't give Winthrop its best effort ... not close.

* McLean again was non-existant. He probably will continue to be against Bradshaw. And Bradshaw embarrassed Tyler Baker a couple of times last night. I love Bradshaw's game.
* LU shot horribly in the second half. They were lucky to even be in the game.
* LU shoots 16-26 from the FT line. Hit a few more, and it's a different game.

That said, Winthrop didn't give its best effort either, especially defensively in the first half. They still prevented LU from going nuts in transition, which was more than High Point could do. I thought the 21-35 from the FT was bad, but it was really just normal going off your stats, seeing as WU shoots 60 percent from the line on the season.

Lang, in your professional opinion, does Bradshaw have NBA potential, or is he at least good enough to play professionally overseas?

You beat me to it, Chris. That second half could never be classified as anyone's best shot. If you want to say it was our best opportunity, then I might bite. But that second half was horrendous.

I don't normally post often but when I read something as absurd as Realist saying he thinks that WU has taken LU's best shot I must speak up. First off, I will preface this post saying that Winthrop is obviously the clear favorite in the conference. I would also say though, that they are little bit overrated as the Big South is pretty bad and even though they held in the with some tough teams, there are no big W's. But favorites nonetheless.

Blair might have been on fire in the first half, but in the second half he was just as cold as he was hot. We saw what could happen when Blair gets hot last year in the Vines. He took over with no supporting cast and beat a Winthrop team that is very much as good as this years squad. This year he has a little more help. Namely, Dwight Brewington who did not play enough of a role until it was too late. If coach D could find him more shots we would be even more of a threat than we were last night. I'm not saying that we would beat WU in a rematch, but last night was not even Liberty's best game of the season as Chris Lang alluded to. Also, I'd like to think that our best game is ahead of us and I will say that it very well could be an upset of WU in the conference tourny. Maybe not as likely as some of us would like to hope, but definately possible.

nice thread...PERSONAL SHOTS, COCKINESS.....nice. hey the bottom line is LU is playing much better, and both HPU and WU have seen it. yes we want to be 3rd so we can face HPU in the tournament...we matchup better with them, and if we can get a "glove" on AZ, we WILL win a 3rd matchup with the panthers. BTW any lurker or guest from another school, when you make the comments like you did, prepare to get some backlash. we woudl get the same treatment on another school's board.

He's got the sort of game that translates to the NBA for a 6-11 big. He can hit outside shots. He rebounds well. He's athletic. He's got an array of moves in the post. I don't know if he'll get drafted, but he's certainly got NBA potential.

LUconn wrote:look panfan I'll put it in furnature terms for you. HPU is a lot like a a coffee table. Everybody used to have one but they're selling less and less these days. LU is like an ottoman. Getting to be very popular and is gradually replacing the coffee table altogether in the living room. WU is the Couch. Still the king of the living room that everybody hopes to knock off. Good luck the rest of the way coffee table.
That was great.

Not sure what panfan's problem is. Liberty fans think their team is pretty good right now (and from the way they've been playing I would agree). Winthrop fans think our team is pretty good (and they are). He thinks High Point is pretty good (I would agree with that, too). There is a good chance that our teams might not be as good as some of us think, but who cares. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a fan... not an ESPN analyst. So go ahead and think your team is good. Heck, go ahead and think they're the best. With the talent that Liberty, High Point, and Winthrop have I could see any of them making a run through the Big South Tournament. All it takes is getting hot at the right time. I could even see Coastal making a run (as long as they don't have to count on Leasure to hit a clutch shot).

As far as the thing I saw about Winthrop being a little bit overrated... I'm not sure what that is about. Who has them overrated? Sure the Big South is down this year, but Winthrop hasn't lost a conference game yet. All they can do is win the games on the schedule.

Thank you Captain Obvious!! But one may wonder: What if Dunton continues moving forward, yet the boyz take a step back? Or perhaps the boyz take a step forward but Dunton steps back? What if they BOTH step back? Or what if one moves forward yet the other stays still? THESE are the questions that can keep you up at night!!!

I thought panfan made a pretty good point, after all Liberty is in 4th place, and while there playing better, who's to say it will continue. Sure we hope it will, but look at from his perspective. All he knows is that LU's been inconsistent.

Hey, don't blame me because I want to see these guys succeed and you, as a student, seem to prefer to see them fail. That's just a personal thing that you're going to have to sort out on your own.

Good luck!

I have to agree... I don't think Winthrop is overrated... everyone knows who good they are and if I'm not mistaken they've proved winning more championships like, what, 6 out of 8 years? I think the other teams in the Big South may have Liberty underrated... and they have the right to, we have been very inconsistent over the past few years. We're two games under .500 on the season (.500 in the conf.), but what would that record look like without all those schools we beat up on like Southern Virginia, Cincinnati Christian.

I just hope everyone at Winthrop liked our "Clemson Rejects" sign last night.

Agreed, you shouldn't expect TB to have to back down Bradshaw

but really, you should look at becoming a publicist...that was a great spin you pulled right there taking all the focus and putting it on the positives!

ha, I laughed just from reading that. But then again, I am pretty immature and leave a lot to be desired in the class department.
