The two people that I found that could be held responsible would be...Vincent Briedis and Jason Eaker....I think that these two could have done a better job of getting the word out, but the only thing that I see is a small snipet of info on the website. Doesn't mention at what point LB broke the record or what shot (free throw or jumper). You would think that a school of LU's size an SID would/should/could do the university and athletic department a fine job. But, I guess my money doesn't go to that.

I got blasted last time I suggested that the official site/SID had done a less then stellar job at PR, or even just updating the site on a regular basis. So I don't offer suggestions anymore re: this type of issue.

Evidently I'm insensitive to the fact that they are overworked and understaffed down there.

Don't even start blaming Jason or Vince... you don't know what your talking about. Our SID staff has done a great job with the new web-site and they get us everything we need and they do it very quickly!!!!

man gmtm knows and defends everybody....you don't think that they could have maybe done a better job with this??? Its not just one or 2 people...the whole department screwed this one up....i mean its not nearly the major deal people are making it out to be...but something still should have been done....

Does it occur to anyone that is could have just been a breakdown in several different areas? I would think that the Athletic Media Relations staff is only responsible for getting the word out to the AD staff, and then it is up to the AD to decide in how to handle the situation and for the promotions.

you could well be correct- it would just be nice for SOMEONE to come out and acknowlege SOMETHING. ANYTHING at all here. at least address the ommission as inadvertent and assure the fans that LB WILL be recognized.

I only included their names after further research...but how about Coach Dunton, Jeff Barber, or even the Sports Editor for the campus newspaper???? This is a GLARING omission. As an alum, I want to hold my school accountable for their inactions. As well for LU to hold me to mine!!!

Okay, let's just say it was an oversight, or maybe they just weren't thinking. Something can still be done this year to recognize LB, if not soon, than I guess on senior day.

Has anyone made the AD, SID, Coaches aware of this oversight? We talk a lot about it on flamefans, but is anything actually beign done?

They are all aware of the milestone obviously and the SID's knew it was coming that night and so did everyone else. Coach Dunton plans on acknowledging the milestone at a conference game when all the students are back. It is unfortunate that it didn't happen at the moment IMO but not the end of the world. No need to call out everyone by name in the entire athletic dept. Vince Breidis does an excellent job in my opinion in his brief time here. He feeds us key stats and info that would be next to impossible for us to look up while we broadcast. He makes sure the website and gamenotes are available early enough for us to digest in time for the game. I can't say enough about Jason Eaker's work either. He will make a good head coach someday for sure.

We were all over it Dickens Ray Jones doesn't miss that kind of stuff. We keep a running tally of when Larry passes everyone regardless of where on the list it puts him. It is kind of fun to see the names move down the list....I was gonna tie in my mention of Peter Aluma being passed by LB and that SJ was wearing the actual shorts that Aluma wore when he scored many of his points but the game moves too fast and I don't like to shoehorn stuff in.

It is not the SID's fault for this. The headline for the game was that LB passed Aluma.



As for Coach Dunton, he's planning on doing a ceremony the right way before the VMI game. It'll probably happen in between the girls' game and the start of the guys' game.

we're beating a dead horse at this point...those "in" know who normally handles these things (half time events, ceremonies, etc) and they prob. have already read everything that was said here...they know the ball was dropped...Flame Fans exposed it...and hopefully it wont happen again...I'm not quite ready to start saying "here we go again, same ole same ole at LU just like it always has been" simply b/c the only negative thing you can say now about presentations now, is they are to long winded (sometimes ) and thats better then having to say they're not happening at all, like we've been saying for the past 8 years...so all of our points were made, and I promise you they've been noted.......oooonnnnward and Foooooorward

Odd thing. I am not sure of anyone who only worked 8-5 in the athletic department. The last administration would have been raked over the coals for an oversite like this. I wonder if that makes it more of an institutional issue than a departmental issue?
