This stuff gets really ridiculous that a couple of guys continue to pound at Dunton. Both with their own issue to create their warped view. Their are friends of mine who won't join this board because they feel it is always negative. It could be a venue to generate more Flame spirit but it has been hijacked to hatchet on anything that Dunton does. So for those of us who do understand the nature of young people in this generation what goes on in D1 programs and vehemently support Dunton it will always become serious opposition to the few who constantly paint a negative spin on everything. Yes they are entitled to their opinion but it is also fair to expose their apparent commitment to twist anything for the negative. I have known Coach for 15 years he is a fighter and has move us to the top and will get us back there. Don't bet against him.

Well it seems that I don't know the nature of young people today or how D1 basketball works because I have negative thoughts of RD's performance as Head Basketball coach. Why do you take everything so personal. Just chill man. No one has attacked Dunton's character. The whole reason this board is here is to discuss Flames Basketball. I think that the Head Coach's performance falls under those guideliness. People don't always agree with you, that's life. Maybe you should tell your friends to grow up. listen you can have your opinion and i will freely express mine. some are dedicated to criticizing so the inconsistencies speak loud. dunton's 2-1-2 came just as Rocco's has a 2. The recruiting successes
are noteworthy. maybe i have unrealistic expectations about how grown ups act.

Refer to my earlier post. I am baffled as to how you can equate criticism of RD as ignorance of D1 basketball and the youth of America. It seems an awfully broad brush with which you paint. As for inconsistency, I would say those who are not big fans of RD are pretty consistent in that. Would you then say that other coaches who disagree with RD are also ignorant of the very level of competition with which their livlihoods depend?

hey dickens, i am the first on this board to say everyone has an opinion, and this is the place to express it, but talking about how rish gets his education for free is way overboard. it is none of your business or anyone else here. there are many students there with special circumsatnces that do get assistance, and i can tell you whatver rish gets he certainly deserves. rish has made great strides as a student and person, and it is just a low move to get personal. keep it to hoops.

I will say anything i want to about someone getting free tuition out of the money I pay the school. Especially if I dont feel they deserve it. all part of the idea of an opinion, and a right of free speech.

Smooth, I hate to say it but I agree with you , but only sort of. DICKENS feel free to say anything you want, but unerstand it just may not be appropriate. A little back ground. First of all the money YOU spend on your education has nothing to do with the scholarships provided to athletes. The athletic scholarship budget is just "paper money". Meaning the athletic department does not cut a check for their scholarships they are just given a "budget" of how much "money" they can spend. This gives LU a HUGE advantage. If LU athletics actually had to fund their scholarships out of their revenue, then we would be squaring off with Birmingham Southern again in DIII.
Secondly, look at all the other scholarships around LU. You can spell baptist backwards? $500. You actually know a pastor who has heard of LU? $500. You have read Falwell's autobiography? $2000. You think Ron Godwin is the Alan Greenspan of LU? $5000. These are what are called unfunded scholarships. Again, no money changes hands. It is more like a discount on you tuition. The money you pay goes towards actual situations (salary, utilities, upkeep) where money changes hands.
I could go on about how this is why we are perpetually in debt but that is another thread.

I no he is no longer playing. What I was trying to point out was even if RD is taking his alloted scholarship money to help it is no big deal. You said your main objection was that your money was being used to subsidise him. I was pointing out that is not the case. Also, do you know for 100% fact that RD is using money out of his budget to fund the education? I don't know and am just asking. If not, then the argument is moot as someone else is footing the bill. Even if he is keep in mind what happens a lot at other institutions. Athletes who can no longer perform, family issues, injuries depleted eligibility, often still have their school paid for by either the team itself or gracious booster's who pick up the bill. What we have here is not an atypical situation.

JM, I agree with you for the most part about RD, but not on this issue. It is none of your business or mine how any student is getting his/her education paid for. And believe me, I have given a lot more money to this school than you will ever pay in tuition and all of it to the athletic department. You can't bash RD for everything and maintain any credibility. There is plenty to question without worrying how one person gets through school.

oh flameshaw....I do not bash Dunton, I even complimented him by saying that he was helping Risher get his degree. I point out problems with Dunton....If you have given money and you haven't complained to higher powers than you should be ashamed....

so the last guy with the keyboard can spray paint any thing his bitterness, smallness, ignorance or possibly insight can express. it should be noted that anything haize or dickens has to say is to create a cloud of suspicion or some gray looming cloud. give me a break on your attack against risher. Today is thanksgiving and i am thankful for God's saving grace,provisions, lu, JF, and coach d. it is a great time of year and hopefully the teams will have a season of growth and accomplishment.
