I'm not saying be a traffic cop and stand there on defense, I'm saying you put an emphasis on offense and that energizes the players, the crowd and it puts pressure on the other team to stop it!!!
Where is Syracuse ranked in scoring offense? UVA? Wisconsin? There goes that theory

And you would be wrong...again. But keep trying

UVA , Wisconsin have shooters dude!!!!!! Syracuse has lottery picks.....

Just because they are methodical doesn't mean they aren't good on O!!!!

All 3 have offensive weapons.

At this point, we should move hockey into the vines and hoops into the Lehaye Ice Center. It would look better.

(and move up to NCAA d1 in hockey where a conference would offer us a spot in a heartbeat)

Are the players that limited? Or does the system limit them. Really hard to believe what we watched tonight. Undoubtedly a new low point in this season.

I believe last night may have been our worst performance of the season. We are simply not a good basketball team. Only hope to start fresh come tournament time like last season. It could happen, for there is no powerhouse team in BSC this season.

Finally writing what I been saying since the Radford loss.
He also harped on trust issues which you categorically deny exist so.....

LU is challenged in just about every facet of the game at this point

From Lang's article

Funny moment before the game: When the Flames came out for warm-ups, Vander Pol raised his arms and put his hand to his ear, trying to rouse the crowd of 50 or so people in the Vines Center 10 minutes before tipoff. The greater student body has definitely checked out on this particular team. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more Cadets from VMI there Saturday than LU students.

Trust issues on a team is when a team mate steals my stuff out of my locker. Really what other program that is losing talks about on court trust issues. I haven't read any this year

If you don't pass the ball to an open team mate that is saying you don't trust that guy/girl to do what they are supposed to do. If you are not where you are supposed to be on defense because you don't trust the other player to do what they are supposed to. I think Trust issues go much deeper than being selfish. It's the junction where selfish and 'not buying in' come together. We have that in spades with this team

That's actually more of what I was trying to express.

It's been my experiences, where the Head Coach should say 'hey we're running this play, I want player x catching the ball here and I want player y & z over here doing this. Then after we score we'll run it again until they stop it'.

I can go into the student center, find 4 guys I have never met, start playing ball and by the end of an hour of playing we'll probably trust each.... I mean for 5 years we played intramurals never practiced, won our games, had fun doing it. LU players been together for over 1/2 years but no trust..... Lame excuse boys, I'm not drinking that kool aid.

Because there is such a natural correlation between intramurals and intercollegiate athletics

If all a coach has to do is tell players to do A,B and C and then players do it, why have practice? Heck, why have coaches.
You are pretty much on the path to Troll Village at this point

Dang PH,

I been saying since the Radford loss that LU's problem is there offense....whether it's trust, selfish, lack of shooting, post play, point guard, or the offensive system itself, that's my outside observation.

That's not trolling, that's pointing out a problem.

No what do you say the problem is??? Defense huh??

This is a misnomer.

A great coach said he only had 3 Rules for his team (later expanded to 4)
Never Give Up
Trust Your Teammates
Control what you can control
(4- no cell phones in practice)

That was all he needed and summed up everything. It's how he judged every player, every play every action. You apply that to this team and you will find they are failing in at least 3 of them.

i dont disagree with you at all..but overall this team is very limited offensively..in my mind good defense is a lot of heart and toughness..not based on skill..to a degree of course
