Davon was playing well..JCS was actually rotating the ball and not doing the dribble drive get stuck and dump out to Davon. I believe we outrebounded them in the 1st half. Our D was pretty strong. I came away from the game feeling that Andrew Smith should be playing 40 minutes a game. He brings soo much energy and he is extremely athletic which this team desperately lacks. Gielo was playing well and making decisive moves to the bucket. Our turnovers were limited. All in all I was impressed with this team 1st half.
Smith should be the 1st or 2nd guy off the bench. He has a ton of energy and that's his greatest asset. By starting him you take that dimension aay from the team and that dimension is not something that extrapolates out to 40 minutes or even 30 minutes a game. Using him in many quick short doses maximizes his potential and benefit to the team as a whole
The first half of the game was a case of UVA being half asleep and LU playing really well. The rebounding is the key point in that. Close in the first, not so much in the 2nd. Rebounding is a good barometer of energy and effort.
