Ha. I would be the last person to call someone else a 'bad fan'. I think you martyr complex is getting in your way.
The 2 situations are different by a country mile. You said it yourself. One team was hyped as the greatest ever. If you can't figure out the rest of the differences between the 2 ....

I let myself think the basketball team could do something the same way everyone thought the football team could.

I expect more, because I know we could be so much better than we are. I'm used to the underperformance of football. I guess I need to learn to settle with basketball as well.

We have a dynamic PG, a couple wing players who can score, a couple 3 point shooters, and a couple bigs who can bang with anyone in the BSC. I fail to see why we should accept being less than average in this conference. But that's where we're headed. I just hope we can figure out how to use what we have, rather than thinking about who we don't have.

We have more than enough to get a home tourney game. We have talent. We just need to use it. That means the coaches and the players need to use the talent they have.

The only teams getting home tourney games this year are the Nos. 7, 8 and 1 seeds.

The quarterfinals/semifinals are all played at the No. 1 seed.

That's kinda funny.

Coming into the year, I thought we'd have a home game using last year's formula.

Right now, I think we'll have a home game using this year's formula (7th or 8th... maybe)

Yeah. It's going to be a fight for this team to get into the top six. This is as deep as the conference has been in years. Campbell is very good, and its freshman point guard is only going to get better. Coastal is very good. Asheville has the best backcourt in the league. Presbyterian/Winthrop/Chuck South/VMI can all be outstanding on a given night and head scratchingly bad on others. Gardner-Webb/Radford/High Point and LU all look pretty similar right now.

Liberty has defensive deficiencies that are going to be extremely hard to overcome, especially in the post. If either Vander Pol or Burrus gets into foul trouble, the Flames have very little in the way of options because Baird just isn't ready to be a contributor yet.
