Great to get some good news on the injury front for a change. I think a healthy Sommy can be a game changer for us, especially on the defensive end.

No offense to drum, but why would the school issue a release saying he was out for the year if he really wasn't out for the year? I'm heading to practice tomorrow and will update if anything has changed. But it makes no sense to put that release out unless you're sure of an athlete being done for the season.

Ogukwe is most definitely done for the year, unless Layer is lying to my face. That's usually not his style.

Dislocated elbow. Hopes to have him back sometime in December. He was in a sling yesterday, but not a cast. No surgery needed.

I guess John Brown just didnt think a bad sprain would take him out for the whole season.

Probably has as much to do with how effective he could be coming back in February/March. I don't think they'd want to waste a year of eligibility if he could only play a handful of games, and probably not at full strength. ... I was told it was a torn ACL, not just a sprain. Either way, even if he could play, he wasn't going to help much if at all.

On Gielo, I'm not sure which hand he shoots with. Pretty sure it's the left arm in a sling, though I can't recall for certain.

I really think Ethan Layer will play into the rotation, especially with Gielo out.

Reminds me of the "Chris Summers experiment" a few years ago. Lang even referenced that in his article a few days ago.

7 guys played significant minutes last night - Jesse, Chene, Minaya, Burris, JVP, JCS, and Tavares. We have to develop another big that can provide 10-15 minutes of solid production. Whether that's Baird or Smith doesn't matter.

Coming into this season we thought we had plenty of depth but then Ogukwe and Brown go down. It could be a long season if either Baird or Smith don't develop.

Baird had the deer in headlights look to him last night. We knew this coming in to this year that he was going to be a huge question mark.

The rotation won't be settled until we start settling in to conference play, IMO. We've got a lot of question marks still that certainly aren't going to be answered against a team like A&M.

Baird hasnt played legit basketball in almost two years so like you said, he is gonna come out with a "deer in headlights" look. Youd have to think that Baird would have some adjustments to make now that he is getting back into playing again. I mean practicing is one thing but its a whole different batch of cookies when you get out on the court...hopefully the Randolph game will help him and a couple of the other new faces before we get back into CvC play next week

Yea, we are missing Carter--and his high post screens--in a big way already. Maybe Baird and Smith need to watch some McMasters film from last year to see how it's done. 8)
