This is GREAT NEWS! Our team will be significantly bigger next year with 3 guys over 6'8" and another 6'4" wing. I really like these additions!

It's really hard to compare, but Thomasz has been playing with and against a higher level of competition than perhaps any recruit we have ever had, and his performance against the US under 17 team alone is enough to get excited about.

Wonderful news. I was hoping we'd land him. Man we are loaded for next year.

1 - Jesse, Chene
2 - Speaks, JC
3 - Minaya, Gielo
4 - Brown, Baird, Smith
5 - JVP, Burrus, Ogukwe

Then I'm not sure who gets the 13th scholly, probably Carter. But we have alot of depth with alot of guys who can play multiple positions. I'm pumped. Can't wait 'til November.

If it's Carter who returns instead of Jeremy, we will be pretty thin in the backcourt. I wouldn't be surprised if Minaya plays some at the 2.

Or.................................... maybe we aren't done yet.

:clapping

this is huge. he's been pumping in huge numbers recently for Poland.

He's still playing Basketball and will likely leading into summer giving him an advantage. I think IF he can adjust to college life because he showed well against USA, Canada and other probable NBA prospects, I think he can come in and push for a starting spot. either at 3,4, or 5.

Has this kid played for pay at all? Has he played with people who have gotten paid? In other words: are we looking at any type of hold up on him getting to play in the fall.

My understanding is the program he has been playing with is not your run of the mill Euro club team. They are specifically directed toward preparing players for college ball in the states, so they are extremely careful about avoiding that stuff.

From what I've noticed the last few years, the clearinghouse has really been dragging their feet and taking their time.

From everything I understand with the clearinghouse, it just depends on which worker gets the player's file.

U-18 Polish Final Round (day 1): Gielo, Niedzwiedzki and Karnowski, unstoppable
11-05-2011
Poland is the main favorite this summer in the Division "A" U-18 European Championship, an event held in this same country. Today some of these 1993 great generation members started the U-18 Polish Final Round, and three of them became usntoppable for their rivals with crazy performances. We are talking about Tomasz Gielo ('93), Piotr Niedzwiedzki ('93) -at the pic- and Przemek Karnowski ('93). Big names and big shows. Let's check what happened in the opener of the tournament played in Torun (Poland).
-Torun 78 Korona Krakow 55: Hosts started great the event with a victory behind huge performances of their duo. Tomasz Gielo, who will play in Liberty (NCAA) next season, collected a 39 efficiency after scoring 24 points (8/13 FG) and pulling down 24 rebounds. Beside him Karnowski added 25 (8/15 FG) and 8 boards. For Krakow only Jakub Maksymiuk ('93) nailed more than seven points: 18 and 4 rebounds, even 7/19 FG.

In fact he is playing in the school, not in the club. He played in Second Legaue which is actually Third Devision. Although often against a professional players but does not seem to me he receive any money (probably only scholarship). Like olldflame say this school prepare young (most talented) Polish players to future career. I don't think there schould be any problems with clearinghouse.

Right now Gielo playing with his team in third place game in Polish Championships under 18.
Here you can find his statistics from this event - http://u18m.mlodziez.pzkosz.pl/?s=5&id=2870&ss=2

I'm from Poland but I don't know Gielo. I'm only the blogger here about college basketball. So if you have any question I will try to answer.
